Medical Data Annotation Specialist (Healthcare AI & Strategic Operations)

Job Summary

We are seeking a high-performing Medical Data Annotation Specialist to support healthcare AI initiatives through accurate medical annotation and clinical data processing. The role involves analyzing clinical documents, identifying medical concepts, maintaining data quality, and contributing to process improvements and workflow optimization.

Mode of Work: Full-time | 1-year contract

Location: Kolkata (Work From Office)

Shift: Night Shift (6:00 PM 3:00 AM)

Required Qualifications

- MBBS degree is mandatory.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of patient medical histories and clinical narratives.
- Excellent English reading comprehension and written communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with annotation tools.
- Willingness to work night shifts and from the office in Kolkata.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in medical billing, medical coding, or clinical documentation.
- Background in medical transcription.
- Exposure to clinical NLP, medical data annotation, or AI-driven healthcare projects.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and structured clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Core Annotation Responsibilities

- Annotate and label medical terms and clinical concepts from clinical notes, encounter summaries, and healthcare documents.
- Extract and structure patient information, including diagnoses, medications, procedures, laboratory results, and medical history.
- Map medical concepts to standardized medical terminologies and ontologies such as ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy, consistency, and productivity while meeting defined SLAs.





Strategic & Adaptive Responsibilities
- Identify recurring annotation challenges, ambiguities, and process inefficiencies.
- Suggest improvements to enhance annotation quality and workflow efficiency.
- Support quality audits, peer reviews, and pilot tasks as required.
- Adapt to new annotation frameworks, tools, and client-specific requirements.
- Contribute to process documentation, guideline clarifications, and best practices.
- Collaborate with QA teams, team leads, and project managers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Demonstrate readiness to take on subject matter expert (SME), quality, or workflow-support responsibilities based on performance.
