– Marketing & Communications Manager - Standalone Airport Hotel

Role Purpose The Marcom Manager owns the hotel's brand, voice and visibility. Without a chain's global marketing machine behind it, a standalone hotel depends on this role to build awareness, drive direct bookings and position the property against branded competitors.

The role leads all marketing, PR, digital, social media and content activity across rooms, F&B;, weddings, MICE and spa, with clear accountability for brand reputation and revenue contribution.

Key Responsibilities

Brand strategy and positioning The Marcom Manager develops and owns the hotel's annual marketing plan and budget, aligned with revenue and business goals. They define and protect the brand identity, tone of voice and visual standards across every touchpoint. Through regular competitor and market analysis, they position the hotel against branded and independent competitors, and manage memberships and affiliations such as Small Luxury Hotels, Preferred Hotels or Leading Hotels of the World, where applicable.

Digital marketing and direct bookings The role drives direct-booking share through the hotel website, booking engine, SEO, SEM and metasearch platforms such as Google Hotel Ads and Tripadvisor.

The Marcom

Manager plans and runs paid campaigns on Google, Meta and other channels, tracking ROI and cost per acquisition. They manage website content, landing pages and conversion optimisation with the web agency, and run email marketing, CRM and guest-recognition communications. Working closely with Revenue Management, they shape promotions, packages and OTA content on MakeMyTrip, Booking.com, Agoda and Expedia.

Social media and content The Marcom Manager owns the social media strategy, content calendar and community management across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and X. They commission and direct photo and video shoots and maintain an up-to-date asset library. They also manage influencer, creator and blogger partnerships with clear deliverables and measurable reach.

Public relations and communications The role builds strong relationships with lifestyle, travel, food and business media to secure regular earned coverage.

The Marcom

Manager oversees the PR agency where retained, along with press releases, media familiarisation visits and interviews.

Together with the General Manager, they lead crisis communication and keep the crisis communication plan current. They also handle internal communications, newsletters and employee engagement messaging in partnership with HR.

Outlet, events and segment marketing The Marcom Manager creates and executes campaigns for F&B; outlets, festivals, Sunday brunches, chef promotions and seasonal offers. They support the Sales team with collateral and campaigns for weddings, MICE, corporate and social events, and plan and deliver hotel launches, anniversaries and signature events.

Online reputation management The role monitors and responds to reviews on Google, Tripadvisor, OTAs and social platforms within set timelines. The Marcom Manager analyses guest feedback trends, shares insights with operations leaders, and works to improve review scores and rankings on key platforms.

Partnerships and collateral The Marcom Manager develops co-branded partnerships with luxury brands, banks, credit cards, airlines and lifestyle platforms, and manages barter, sponsorship and alliance agreements. They produce brochures, menus, signage, fact sheets, presentations and in-room collateral to brand standard.

Budget, agencies and team The role manages the marketing budget, vendor contracts and the performance of creative, digital, PR and web agencies. The Marcom Manager leads, coaches and develops the marketing team, and reports monthly on marketing performance, spend and return to the General Manager and ownership.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance will be measured mainly on direct booking share and direct revenue against target, supported by website traffic, conversion rate and return on ad spend from paid campaigns. On social media, the focus is follower growth, engagement rate and reach, while PR success is judged by the number and value of earned media placements.

Reputation is tracked through Tripadvisor ranking, Google rating,

OTA review scores and review response rate. The role is also measured on covers and revenue generated by promoted outlet and event campaigns, marketing spend held within the approved budget, and the engagement and retention of the marketing team.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Education The candidate should hold a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Journalism or Hotel Management. An MBA or PG Diploma in Marketing or Communications is preferred.

Experience The role calls for 7–10 years in marketing and communications, including at least 3 years as a manager in a 5-star or luxury hotel. Experience in a standalone or independent luxury property is a solid advantage. The candidate should bring a proven record in digital marketing, direct-booking growth and media relations.

Skills The ideal candidate has a strong command of digital channels, including SEO, SEM, Meta Ads, Google Hotel Ads and GA4 analytics. Excellent written and spoken English is essential, and a regional language is a plus. They should have a creative eye for photography, design and luxury aesthetics, along with working knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, CMS platforms and CRM or email tools.

An established network with media, influencers and agencies is expected, together with sound budgeting, vendor management and reporting skills. The candidate must also show calm, sound judgment in crisis communication.

Personal attributes

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on professional who is comfortable building systems without chain support. The candidate should have a polished, confident presence with owners, guests and media, and be collaborative, detail-driven and able to manage multiple deadlines.

Working Relationships

Internally, the Marcom Manager works closely with the General Manager, Director of Sales, Revenue Manager, F&B; team and Executive Chef, Rooms Division, Spa, HR, Finance and IT. Externally, the role engages with owners, PR, creative and digital agencies, media, influencers, OTAs, brand partners, affiliation bodies and vendors.

This reflects the main duties of the role and is not exhaustive. The incumbent may be asked to take on other reasonable duties in line with business needs.
