About Karma Foundation Karma Foundation is a charitable animal hospital based in Pune, dedicated to providing medical care, rescue, rehabilitation, sterilisation, and vaccination services to animals in need. Our team works passionately to improve the lives of stray and community animals through compassionate care and responsible animal welfare practices.

We are looking for a proactive and organised Human Resources Manager to manage recruitment, staff administration, and employee relations, ensuring that our team operates efficiently and supports the foundation’s mission.

Role Overview The HR Manager will be responsible for end-to-end recruitment, staff management, employee attendance, HR documentation, and day-to-day HR operations for a team of fewer than 50 employees. The ideal candidate should be hands-on, approachable, disciplined, and capable of managing a diverse workforce across clinical, animal care, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

- Recruitment and Hiring: Manage end-to-end recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, selection, and joining formalities.
- Staff Management: Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, leave, work schedules, and overall discipline.
- Onboarding: Ensure smooth onboarding, induction, and orientation of new employees.
- Employee Relations: Address staff grievances, resolve workplace conflicts, and maintain a positive and professional work environment.
- Performance Management: Monitor employee performance, coordinate appraisals, and work with department heads to improve productivity and accountability.
- HR Documentation: Maintain employee records, appointment letters, employment agreements, attendance registers, and other HR documents.




- Payroll Coordination: Prepare monthly attendance and leave data, coordinate salary processing, and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Policies and Compliance: Implement HR policies and ensure adherence to applicable labour laws and employment regulations.
- Training and Development: Identify staff training needs and organise employee training, induction, and development activities.
- Workforce Coordination: Work closely with veterinary, animal care, housekeeping, and administrative teams to ensure adequate staffing and smooth daily operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in HR, recruitment, or staff management.
- Strong recruitment, interviewing, and candidate assessment skills.
- Experience managing attendance, leave, employee records, and payroll coordination.
- Good understanding of HR policies and applicable Indian labour laws.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse workforce, maintain confidentiality, and handle employee issues fairly.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and HR management tools.
- A hands-on approach, strong sense of responsibility, and ability to work independently.
