Job title: Head of SMS Platform — A2P, SMPP, AI SMS Firewall & DLT

About us

We’re building a global A2P SMS platform for enterprises, aggregators, wholesale partners and mobile operators. It includes SMS APIs, SMPP connectivity, wholesale routing, an AI-powered SMS firewall and a DLT-based compliance platform. The platform is in development. We need an experienced leader who has built and run a live SMS platform before, to take ours to production and run it at scale.

The role

You’ll own the SMS platform end to end: design it, build it with our developers, connect it to carriers worldwide, make it secure and compliant, and run it reliably in production. As we grow, you’ll hire and lead the team that manages it.

What you’ll do

Build the core SMS platform

- Review what we’ve built so far, find the gaps, and plan the path to live production
- Design and build a scalable, high-throughput, highly available A2P SMS platform with failover
- Build and manage SMPP connections (client and server) and HTTP/REST SMS APIs
- Build smart routing: least-cost, quality-based and failover routing, plus delivery reports (DLRs)
- Integrate number lookup (HLR / MNP), Unicode, long-message handling and global number formats

Wholesale platform

- Build customer and supplier management, rates, rating, credit limits, billing and invoicing
- Connect and test SMPP links with operators and aggregators worldwide
- Monitor route quality, delivery rates, latency and margins in real time

AI-powered SMS firewall

- Design and build an SMS firewall that protects operators and enterprises from fraud and unwanted traffic
- Detect and block grey routes, SIM box traffic, SMS pumping / AIT, spoofing, spam and phishing
- Use AI and machine learning to:
- Classify message content automatically (OTP, transactional, promotional, fraud, phishing)




- Spot unusual traffic patterns and new fraud in real time
- Score senders and routes for risk
- Detect malicious links and impersonation of brands or banks
- Learn from new attacks and update rules automatically
- Build an operator dashboard with live analytics, alerts, rule management and revenue-assurance reports
- Support operator deployment models, both on-premise and cloud

DLT compliance platform (global)

- Design and build a DLT (distributed ledger technology) platform for SMS registration and compliance, usable by regulators, operators and enterprises in any country
- Core features:
- Registration of businesses (entities), sender IDs (headers) and message templates
- Customer consent registration and management
- Do-not-disturb / preference registry
- Real-time scrubbing of every message against registered entity, header, template, consent and preferences
- Advanced features:
- AI template matching that checks messages against approved templates and flags misuse
- Automated approval workflows with document checks
- Tamper-proof audit trail of every registration and change
- Multi-operator sync and APIs so operators, aggregators and enterprises share one source of truth
- Configurable rules per country, so one platform adapts to each regulator’s requirements
- Analytics and reports for regulators and operators

Compliance and security across the platform

- Build sender ID registration, consent, opt-out, DND and sending-hours controls that can be configured per country
- Secure the platform with encryption, access control,



audit logs and API security

Run it in production

- Set up monitoring, alerting and 24/7 operations
- Track throughput (TPS), delivery rate, latency, uptime, fraud blocked and margins
- Handle incidents and keep the platform stable

Build the team

- Recommend the team we need, such as developers, data/AI engineers, NOC and support engineers, and a routing and rates manager
- Hire, onboard and lead that team as we scale
- Work closely with our product, compliance and sales teams

What you bring

- Must have: hands-on experience building and running a live A2P SMS platform in production
- 2+ years in telecom messaging, with deep knowledge of SMPP (3.4 / 5.0), SMSC, SMS gateways and HTTP SMS APIs
- Experience building or deploying an SMS firewall for operators or aggregators
- Experience with DLT or sender registration and scrubbing platforms, in any country
- Understanding of AI/ML for fraud detection, anomaly detection or text classification, or experience leading data scientists who do this
- Strong coding skills in at least one of Java, Go, Python, Node.js or C/C++, plus databases, message queues and cloud or Linux servers
- Experience with carrier interconnects, routing, rating and billing for wholesale SMS
- Experience leading or hiring engineers
- Nice to have: blockchain or distributed ledger development, GSMA fraud and security standards, signalling (SS7 / SIGTRAN), WhatsApp Business API or RCS, experience working with regulators or operators
