United Waters International AG (UWI) has developed and patented a pioneering, award-winning and cost-efficient biological drinking water purification technology in 20’ and 40’ foot containerised systems under the brand name BioGreen™. Based on its sustainability, cost efficiency and long-term quality, the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources has selected UWI’s water purification system as a preferred drinking water purification technology.

UWI currently operates water purification plants in West Bengal, in addition to our operations in Europe, and aims to expand significantly across the state and other regions of India in the near future. UWI is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland.

We are seeking a senior professional with deep technical and market expertise to lead our business development and growth strategy across India. This role is ideal for candidates with a proven track record in the water infrastructure sector - spanning operations, engineering, or product development - who are ready to step into a strategic leadership role with hands-on involvement in technology improvement, supplier coordination, and market execution.

The Head of Business Development India will play a central role in adapting and improving UWI’s product offering for the Indian market, leveraging robust technical insight, negotiation skills, and stakeholder engagement. The position requires someone with the ability to work across disciplines - from refining containerised systems with engineering teams to navigating supplier networks and securing municipal contracts.

This is a high-impact leadership role with close collaboration with the company’s senior management team and global headquarters.

Location: Mumbai (India)

Travel: Frequent travel across India required as well as occasionally international.

Key Responsibilities





· Lead market expansion efforts for UWI’s BioGreen™ systems in India, especially in municipal and industrial markets

· Adapt and enhance product features in collaboration with engineering teams to meet regulatory, environmental, and operational needs in India

· Build and manage relationships with government agencies, municipal authorities, EPC partners, and other key infrastructure players

· Negotiate and oversee supplier and vendor agreements to ensure quality and cost-efficiency

· Manage tenders, bids, and large-scale proposals for public-private partnerships and direct contracts

· Create and execute a robust go-to-market strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives

· Identify, evaluate, and secure strategic partnerships, pilot projects, and funding opportunities

· Lead a high-performing, cross-functional business development team to deliver on growth targets

· Contribute to ongoing product innovation and implementation strategies, informed by field experience and client feedback.

Candidate Profile

· Minimum 10 years of experience in water infrastructure, environmental engineering, or related fields, with a focus on project development, technical sales, or operational delivery

· Strong understanding of water treatment systems and India’s regulatory frameworks

· Direct experience with government procurement, public infrastructure projects, and large-scale tender bidding processes

· Experience in structuring technical specifications and commercial costing for tenders based on the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM)

· Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex negotiations

· Background in working with or managing suppliers, engineering consultants, and field technicians

· Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, water management, environmental science, or a related field

· Fluent in English; proficiency in Hindi or other Indian languages is an asset

· Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving.
