Job Summary Windy Street is building a technology platform for financial due diligence (FDD) - the analytical work that supports private equity transactions. Our customer is a US-based CPA firm; their customer is a private equity firm acquiring a target company. This work is done today by trained financial professionals using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint over multi-week engagements that produce a signed-by-partner deliverable.

Our tool reshapes that workflow with deterministic computation engines, AI-augmented analysis, multi-user coordination, and an audit-trail layer that makes the partners review process meaningfully faster. The tool covers approximately twenty analytical modules across three stages: Stage 1 - data construction (ingesting general ledgers, mapping accounts, building multi-period reconciliations); Stage 2 - analysis (rent schedules, payroll analysis, revenue cuts, healthcare waterfalls, and similar); Stage 3 - consistency checking and report assembly.

Were looking for an early-career engineer with roughly 6-18 months of professional experience not a first time fresher, but someone who has already worked in a real team, shipped real code, and is ready to take on more ownership. This role is intentionally full-stack to begin with: youll work across the front end and back end of the FDD platform, and as our technology needs evolve, youll have the chance to specialize further - particularly on the backend and data side - as the team and product suite grow.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain features across the stack - UI components, APIs,

and data/storage layers - for the FDD platforms analytical modules
- Build and maintain front-end features using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React or equivalent), translating UI/UX designs into responsive, functional interfaces
- Develop and support backend APIs and services that power core product modules, under the guidance of senior engineers
- Assist with general ledger ingestion pipelines and data mapping logic for supported accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Sage Intacct)
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, working closely with senior engineers and the tech lead
- Take ownership of small modules or features end-to-end, from requirement discussion through to deployment
- Debug and resolve issues across the front end, back end, and integrations, escalating complex problems appropriately
- Participate actively in code reviews, sprint planning, and design discussions
- Work with the UI/UX engineer, product owners, and business stakeholders (deal, audit, and accounting teams) to understand workflows and translate them into working software
- Support the team in maintaining and improving the consistency check library and regression test suite
- Write and maintain basic technical documentation for the code you own
- Be open to shifting focus over time - for example, moving from a front-end-heavy load today to a more backend- or data-focused role as priorities evolve - and to being mentored/trained accordingly

Required Qualifications

- B.Tech (Computer Science, IT, or related field) is mandatory

- 6-18 months of professional software engineering experience (internships plus a first full-time role is fine; should have worked in a real production/team setting, not purely academic projects)
- Solid fundamentals in at least one modern programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java)
- Working knowledge of a front-end framework (React preferred; Angular/Vue acceptable) and back-end basics (Node.js/Express, FastAPI, or equivalent, REST APIs)
- Basic understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL queries and simple schema design)
- Comfortable with Git and standard development workflows (branching, PRs, code review)
- Strong problem-solving and debugging ability; can work through an unfamiliar codebase with some guidance
- Genuine willingness and aptitude to learn new parts of the stack (especially backend/data engineering) over time
- Good communication skills and comfort working in a small, fast-moving team with direct access to senior engineers and leadership

Good to Have

- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure acceptable)
- Experience with automated testing (unit/integration tests)

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Interest in or exposure to the fintech, audit, or accounting domain
- Experience working with relational databases in a production setting
- Familiarity with Excel/Word automation libraries (openpyxl, python-docx)
- Basic exposure to AI/LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) is a bonus, not required

Additional Desirable Experience

- Exposure to data-intensive or finance-related applications
- Familiarity with Excel/Word automation libraries (openpyxl, python-docx) is a plus
