Role Description

We are developing a software solution to automate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) extraction from construction drawings (DWG files) .

Our objective is to understand how qualified estimators analyse construction drawings, identify building components, calculate quantities, and prepare accurate BOQs.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (QS) who can guide our development team in understanding the estimation process and help us identify opportunities for automation.

Responsibilties

- Understanding of complete workflow followed by estimators when preparing BOQs from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Identify the information required from drawings, schedules, specifications, and other project documents.




- Explain how estimators interpret and correlate information across multiple DWG files belonging to the same building.
- Provide guidance on comparing automatically extracted quantities with manually prepared BOQs.
- BOQ Extraction and Automation
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field are beneficial.
- Experience with estimating software, spreadsheets, and data-driven decision-making is advantageous.
- We are particularly interested in understanding the common criteria, standard practices, and decision-making processes that professional estimators follow, rather than developing a solution that works for only one building or a specific set of drawings.
