BESS Project Costing Engineer

Job Summary The BESS Project Costing Engineer is responsible for preparing project cost estimates, BOQs, cost breakdowns, and commercial proposals for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role involves analyzing technical specifications, obtaining vendor quotations, estimating equipment and installation costs, and ensuring accurate project budgeting and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed project cost estimates for BESS projects based on project capacity (MW/MWh) and technical requirements.

- Develop BOQs (Bill of Quantities), BOMs (Bill of Materials), and detailed cost breakdown sheets.

- Estimate costs for battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), power conversion systems (PCS), transformers, switchgear, cables, HVAC, fire protection, EMS/SCADA, and auxiliary systems.

- Calculate costs for civil works, electrical installation, transportation, testing, commissioning, and engineering services.

- Collect and evaluate vendor quotations and prepare technical-commercial comparisons.

- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, project management, and sales teams to finalize project costs.

- Prepare CAPEX estimates, budgetary offers, tender costing, and EPC project proposals.

- Calculate direct costs, indirect costs, overheads, contingency, and profit margins.

- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize project costs without compromising quality or technical specifications.

- Maintain cost databases, supplier price records, and historical project costing data.





- Support tender submissions, commercial negotiations, and project budget reviews.

- Monitor actual project expenditure against estimated budgets and analyze cost variances.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related field.

- Experience in project costing, estimation, tendering, or commercial engineering; BESS or renewable energy experience is preferred.

- Valuable knowledge of BESS components, electrical systems, and EPC project execution.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, cost estimation tools, and BOQ preparation.

- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), technical specifications, and vendor datasheets.

- Strong analytical, numerical, documentation, and vendor coordination skills.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
