Assistant Manager — Mechanical Projects
HILTI Applicator Division, Trinath Infrastructure Private Limited
1. Position Summary
Designation: Assistant Manager — Mechanical Projects
Division: HILTI Applicator Services
Reporting to: Director
Base location: Head Office, Bhubaneswar, with regular deployment to client industrial sites
Travel: Frequent, across Odisha and other States as project requirement dictates
Compensation: ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 per month, based on experience and assessment
Trinath Infrastructure Private Limited is a Special Class civil and mechanical contractor and an Authorised HILTI Applicator, executing concrete core cutting, diamond drilling, anchor and fastening systems and allied mechanical works inside operating industrial plants. The Applicator division serves integrated steel, aluminium, power and process plants across Odisha and neighbouring States.
We are seeking an Assistant Manager to take technical and commercial ownership of this division's project execution: designing and specifying fastening solutions, running work at client premises, measuring and billing what has been executed, and holding the client relationship on site. This is a hands-on role, not a supervisory one.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 Technical design and specification
- Prepare anchor, fastening and support designs for client requirements, and produce design calculations and submittals where the client requires them.
- Use HILTI PROFIS Engineering and equivalent software to size anchors, baseplates and modular support systems against the applicable loading and base material conditions.
- Prepare and review drawings in AutoCAD, including layouts, sections and as-built marked drawings for cutting, drilling and fixing works.
- Select the correct product, method and tooling for each application, and record the technical basis of that selection.
- Review client drawings and specifications before quotation, and raise technical queries in writing where the scope is unclear.
2.2 Project execution
- Plan and execute core cutting, diamond drilling, anchor fixing, chemical anchoring, firestop and allied mechanical works at client premises.
- Prepare the method statement and job safety analysis for each activity, obtain client approval, and ensure work proceeds only after permits and clearances are in place.
- Deploy and supervise technicians and crews, plan daily manpower against the programme, and maintain daily progress records.
- Maintain custody, calibration and servicing records for all tooling deployed, and account for consumables against work executed.
- Coordinate with the client's project, maintenance and safety teams for access, shutdown windows, hot work permits and height work clearances.
2.3 Measurement and billing
- Take joint measurements with the client representative on completion of each activity and record them in the prescribed form.
- Prepare running account bills from measured quantities against contracted rates and the bill of quantities, and submit within seven days of milestone completion.
- Prepare deviation statements, extra item rate analyses and variation claims, with supporting measurement and correspondence.
- Reconcile executed quantities against the work order and against material and consumable consumption at the close of each contract.
- Follow up submitted bills to certification, and report certification status and any client deduction to the General Manager and to Finance.
2.4 Client management
- Act as the first point of contact at site for the client's engineers on all technical and execution matters.
- Attend client review and coordination meetings, record decisions in writing, and confirm them by email.
- Handle complaints, rework requirements and non conformance reports, and close them within the time the client stipulates.
- Identify additional requirements at existing client sites, prepare technical offers, and pass qualified opportunities to the General Manager.
- Maintain the technical standing of the Company with the client's engineering team, which is what sustains repeat work in this business.
2.5 Estimation and quotation support
- Prepare quantity take offs, rate build ups and technical offers for enquiries in the mechanical and Applicator scope.
- Quote only at or above the margin floor set by the Company, and refer any offer below it to the General Manager.
- Maintain a record of rates quoted, orders received and orders lost, with the reason in each case.
2.6 Compliance and safety
- Ensure no crew is deployed before the applicable gate pass, safety induction, work permit and statutory documentation are complete.
- Maintain safety records for the division: induction, toolbox talks, PPE issue, incident reports.
- Report every incident, near miss and client safety observation on the day it occurs.
2.7 Reporting
- Submit a daily site progress report and a weekly summary to the General Manager in the prescribed format.
- Maintain the project tracker for all Applicator contracts: physical progress, billed progress, collections status, open risks.
- Escalate in writing, without delay, any matter that will affect programme, margin or the client relationship.
3. Qualifications and Experience Education: B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with commensurate experience.
Experience: 5 to 8 years in mechanical project execution, preferably within operating industrial plants (steel, aluminium, power, cement or process).
Essential:
hands-on measurement and running account billing in a contracting environment; direct client-facing experience at site, independent of a reporting manager.
Preferred: prior exposure to HILTI or equivalent fastening systems; experience under principal employer safety and permit systems at integrated plants.
Languages: English and Odia essential, Hindi preferred.
4. Technical Skills
Essential: AutoCAD for drawing preparation, sections, layouts and as-built marking. HILTI PROFIS Engineering, or demonstrated ability to learn anchor design software within the first month. MS Excel for measurement sheets, BOQ, rate analysis and progress tracking. MS Word and email for method statements and client submittals.
Desirable: Revit, Navisworks or any BIM environment. MS Project or Primavera P6, at the level of reading and updating a programme. ERP or accounting system exposure for indents and bill tracking.
5. Attributes
- Able to hold a technical position with a client engineer without escalating every disagreement.
- Writes clearly in English: a method statement, a client email and a deviation claim are all part of this role.
- Records as a matter of habit. Work executed but not measured and not recorded cannot be billed.
- Willing to be at site rather than at a desk, and to work within shutdown windows when the client requires it.
- Declines to proceed where permits, documentation or safety conditions are not in place, and says so in writing.
6. What the First Six Months Should Produce
- Every live Applicator contract measured and billed current, with no bill outstanding beyond seven days of milestone completion.
- A complete rate and design library for the division: standard applications, selected products, approved rates.
- Zero adverse safety or compliance observations from any client.
- At least two additional enquiries generated from within existing client sites.
- Tooling and consumable consumption reconciled against work executed, contract by contract.
7. Compensation and Terms
- ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 per month, fixed, based on experience and assessment at interview.
- Statutory benefits as applicable: Provident Fund, Gratuity, group health cover, leave as per Company policy.
- Travel, lodging and incidental expenses for official deployment reimbursed against supporting bills.
- Probation of six months, with formal review at three and six months.
- Notice period of one calendar month following confirmation.
8. Selection Process
- Screening of application and verification of stated experience.
- Technical discussion covering anchor design, measurement practice and site execution.
- A short practical exercise: a take off and rate build up from a drawing, and a measurement sheet from a given scope.
- Final discussion with the Director.
- Reference check with at least one previous reporting manager.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
Benefits
- Commuter assistance
- Versatile schedule
- Paid sick time
- Provident Fund
