Senior Server Administrator – IT Infrastructure

Role Overview

The Senior Server Administrator is responsible for the design, administration, maintenance, security, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s server and IT infrastructure workplace. The role will ensure that infrastructure services remain secure, resilient, highly available, and aligned with business requirements.

The successful candidate will provide senior-level technical expertise across physical and virtual server environments, operating systems, storage, backup, monitoring, patching, and infrastructure security. They will also play a key role in incident resolution, infrastructure projects, service improvements, and technical planning.

Key Responsibilities

Server & Infrastructure Administration

• Administer and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments across physical and virtual platforms.
• Manage server hardware, operating systems, virtualisation platforms, storage, and associated infrastructure services.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, and health,



proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
• Perform server builds, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning in accordance with established standards.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, configuration records, and technical procedures.
• Ensure infrastructure platforms are appropriately configured for availability, performance, and resilience.

Infrastructure Operations & Support

• Provide senior-level technical support for infrastructure incidents, service requests, and problems.
• Troubleshoot complex server, operating system, networking, storage, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Participate in an on-call or out-of-hours support rota where required.
• Lead or support the resolution of major incidents and provide root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
