YouTube Video Editor for Chess and Educational Content

I’m hiring a YouTube Video Editor for AlphaMind Chess Hub.

I’m looking for someone who can take ownership of the editing side of the channel, not someone who needs me to explain every cut, zoom, arrow, highlight or visual decision.

I’ll handle the content strategy, chess research, scripts and recording. Once the material is ready, I want to be able to hand it over and trust you to turn it into engaging YouTube content.

The typical weekly workload is around:

• 3 long form YouTube videos

- 8 Shorts, mainly repurposed from the long form content
- Thumbnails and related post production The exact mix may change slightly from week to week, but the overall workload will stay broadly similar.

What you’ll be responsible for:

- Editing long form YouTube videos with strong pacing and retention
- Deciding where cuts, zooms, text, graphics and visual emphasis are actually needed
- Using chess board arrows, highlights and other visual elements where relevant
- Sound design and music
- Repurposing long form content into Shorts
- Creating thumbnails
- Handling revisions and final QC
- Keeping editable project and source files properly organized

- Good judgment around pacing and viewer retention
- Ability to make creative decisions independently
- Reliability and consistent delivery
- Clean communication
- Good file organization




- Experience with Shorts/Reels
- Thumbnail capability

Basic chess familiarity is strongly preferred.

You do not need to be a competitive chess player, but you should be able to understand what is happening in the content, learn common chess terminology and recognize key moments rather than treating the chess board as just another visual.

Experience with educational, tutorial, talking head or screen recorded content is a plus.

A few working expectations:

- First long form draft would normally be expected within around 72 hours after complete materials are provided
- The weekly production batch should normally be completed within 6 calendar days
- Reasonable revisions are part of the role
- Any music, footage, fonts, graphics or other assets used must be safe for commercial use
- Clean editable project files are required

This is a recurring part time contractor role. I’m looking for someone I can build a reliable long term workflow with, not just someone for a few individual videos.

Shortlisted applicants may go through a short video screening, interview, paid practical test and a 2 week paid trial before we decide on an ongoing arrangement.
