About the role

We're hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build and scale the systems behind Ambee's climate intelligence products. You'll build high-throughput applications and large, data-driven applications that our customers rely on to run climate intelligence and make better business decisions. You'll own features end to end, from APIs, data stores and pipelines to the React applications customers use daily.

The work involves millions of API calls, large datasets and heavy aggregations. You'll also guide other engineers and help set technical direction.

What you'll do

- Gather requirements with stakeholders and turn them into documented, scalable, fault-tolerant and highly available designs.
- Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs in Node.js, using a microservices approach, that handle millions of requests reliably.
- Build fast, responsive, SEO-friendly front-end applications and dashboards in React.
- Model and optimise data across MongoDB and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), including complex queries and aggregation pipelines over large datasets.
- Use Redis for caching, rate limiting,



queues and other performance-critical patterns.
- Architect, deploy and monitor services on AWS with a focus on performance, availability and cost.
- Tune performance across the stack, including query optimisation, indexing, caching, concurrency, load handling and deployment strategy.
- Break complex features into atomic tasks with detailed designs and effort estimates.
- Own multiple services maintained by the team, from design through release and production support.
- Lead design discussions, review code and mentor engineers to raise the bar across the team.
- Work closely with product, data teams to ship reliable data products.

What you'll need

- 6+ years of skilled software development, with significant full stack experience.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and system design.
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3 skills. TypeScript is a plus.
- Deep hands-on experience with Node.js (Express, NestJS or similar) for building production REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong experience with React, modern front-end tooling and state management, and with
- responsive, SEO-optimised front ends.
- Solid experience with MongoDB, including schema design, indexing and the aggregation
- framework.




- Solid experience with at least one relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Practical experience with Redis.
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS and CloudWatch.
- A proven track record of building big data applications that handle millions of API calls and large datasets, and of debugging them under real production load.
- Experience driving the full SDLC in an agile team, covering requirements, design, development, unit testing and CI/CD automation.
- A user-first mindset and a commitment to engineering, security and design best practices.

Good to have

- Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect.
- Experience with LLMs and generative AI frameworks (for example LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, vector databases).
- Python experience.
- Exposure to Apache Spark and to building and deploying data pipelines (ETL/ELT, batch or streaming).
- DevOps exposure including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and observability tooling.
