Role: Project Head - Sijimali Mines, VAML Lanjigarh

Grade: M1/M2

Role Purpose:

To lead the end-to-end development, execution, and operational readiness of the Sijimali Bauxite Mining Project by ensuring timely commissioning, statutory compliance, stakeholder engagement, cost optimization, safety excellence, and sustainable project delivery aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Development & Execution

- Lead project planning, implementing strategy, execution, and commissioning of the Sijimali Mining operations within approved timelines and budgets.
- Drive mine infrastructure development including roads, mine facilities, utilities, workshops, E&M; infrastructure, and associated project components.
- Monitor project schedules, critical paths, risks, and mitigation plan to ensure achievement of milestones.
- Ensure seamless transition from project phase to mining operations.

2. Statutory Clearances & Compliance

- Secure and monitor all regulatory approvals, licenses, permits, and statutory compliances required for project execution and mine operation.
- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external agencies for timely approvals.
- Forest and environment clearances for bauxite block, land acquisition, land R&R;, infrastructure development and resource mobilization are also part of this role's key deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with DGMS, MoEFCC, IBM, Forest, Revenue, Pollution Control, and other applicable regulations.

3. Contract & Commercial Management

- Drive procurement and contract management for project works.
- On - board business partners including Mine Developer and Operator (MDO), stakeholder engagement, compliance of statutory guidelines ensuring SHES (safety, health, environment, sustainability).
- Manage EPC contractors, MBO partners, consultants, vendors, and service providers to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure effective cost control, budget adherence, and productivity improvements.

4. Stakeholder & Community Relations





- Build and maintain effective relationships with local communities, district administration, and key external stakeholders.
- Lead rehabilitation & resettlement (R&R;), land acquisition support, and CSR alignment activities in coordination with relevant teams.
- Proactively manage socio-political risks impacting project progress.

5. Safety, Environment & Sustainability

- Post commencement of mining operations, the incumbent will be responsible for smooth operation of the mine as per peak rate capacity, in line with state-of-art bauxite mining practices, including ESG and digitalization.
- Establish a strong safety culture and ensure zero-harm project execution.
- Ensure adherence to environmental commitments and sustainable mining practices.
- Monitor implementation of ESG, biodiversity, and environmental management plans.

6. Team Leadership

- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing project organization.
- Drive performance management, capability building, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

7. Governance & Reporting

- Present project progress, risks, cost reports, and key performance indicators to senior leadership.
- Lead periodic project reviews and governance forums.
- Ensure robust MIS and reporting mechanisms for effective decision-making.

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering.
- Master’s degree in mining / business management preferred.
- First Class Mine Manager Certificate of Competency preferred.
- 15 years of experience in mining, project development, mine operations, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in greenfield/brownfield mining project execution.
- Strong exposure to land acquisition, statutory approvals, stakeholder management, and mine infrastructure development.
- Robust understanding of statutory clearances and relevant Acts, regulations & government guidelines.
- Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
- Exposure to bauxite, coal, iron ore, or other large mining operations will be preferred.
