Position: Manager / Senior Manager – BESS Procurement

Function: Procurement / Supply Chain

Industry: Renewable Energy / Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Reporting To: Head – Procurement

Job Purpose To lead end-to-end procurement for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, timely delivery, contractual compliance, and alignment with project technical and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage end-to-end procurement of Solar, BESS systems and associated equipment for renewable-energy projects.

· Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable Solar, BESS OEMs, suppliers and technology partners.

· Handle procurement of:

o Battery Cells / Modules / Racks o Battery Management System (BMS)

o Power Conversion System (PCS)

o Energy Management System (EMS)

o HVAC / Thermal Management o Fire Detection & Suppression Systems o Containers / Enclosures o MV/LV equipment, transformers and switchgear o Cables, protection systems and other BoP items

· Prepare and float RFQs/RFPs, evaluate technical and commercial offers and prepare comparative statements.

· Coordinate with Engineering/Technical teams for technical bid evaluation and vendor finalization.

· Negotiate price, payment terms, warranty, performance guarantees, LDs, delivery schedules and other commercial terms.

· Develop and maintain a qualified BESS vendor/OEM database.

· Prepare purchase orders and procurement contracts in line with approved commercial and technical requirements.

· Monitor supplier manufacturing, inspection, dispatch and delivery schedules.

· Coordinate with Project, Engineering, Finance,



Quality and Logistics teams to ensure on-time project execution.

· Conduct supplier due diligence covering financial capability, manufacturing capacity, quality systems, certifications and past project references.

· Track BESS technology developments, market pricing, supply-chain trends and emerging OEMs.

· Support cost benchmarking and identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering.

· Ensure procurement is compliant with company policies, approved DOA and contractual requirements.

· Manage supplier performance, claims, shortages, warranty issues and commercial disputes.

· Support project teams during FAT, inspection, commissioning and warranty-related matters, wherever required.

Key Technical/Commercial Knowledge The candidate should have positive understanding of:

· Lithium-ion / LFP battery technology

· BESS system architecture and major components

· PCS, BMS, EMS and SCADA

· Battery degradation, efficiency and warranty parameters

· Capacity and energy ratings – MW/MWh

· Round-trip efficiency and availability

· Battery safety and thermal runaway mitigation

· BESS warranties and performance guarantees

· Supply contracts, LDs, payment milestones and Incoterms

· Domestic and international BESS supply chains

· OEM/vendor evaluation and commercial negotiation

Qualifications & Experience





· Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Procurement / Electrical / Mechanical or equivalent.

· 5–10 years of experience in procurement, preferably in BESS, energy storage, solar, renewable energy, power equipment or EPC.

· Experience in BESS procurement/OEM sourcing will be strongly preferred.

· Strong negotiation, vendor-management and commercial evaluation skills.

· Good understanding of project procurement and supply-chain management.

· Ability to work closely with technical and project teams.

Preferred profile: Someone who has independently handled BESS OEM sourcing and procurement negotiations and understands both the technical specifications and commercial aspects of BESS projects.

Imp Note - BESS Procurement role should cover battery systems, PCS, EMS/SCADA, BoP, EPC/vendor procurement, commercial negotiations, and project delivery.

Pay: Up to ₹2,000,000.00 per year
