Way2News is Hiring UPSC and Group 1 Prelims qualifiers for its Current Affairs explainer desk.

You spent years on current affairs. Public policy, governance, economy, history, international relations, and the editorial page every morning. Most jobs will never use that. This one is built on it. At Way2News, you’ll turn the day’s biggest stories into clear Telugu explainer videos for millions of readers. What happened? Why did it happen? Why should you know about this? Every 90-120 second explainer you do is backed by verified sources.

What you’ll do

Your job is to take the stories Telugu viewers most need explained today, and explain it better than anyone else. One day it is what a governor can and cannot do when a bill is stuck. The next, it is why the rupee fell and why it matters to someone in Guntur. Later that week, it is a Supreme Court verdict, a new scheme, or a ceasefire. You cover all of it, the way you once prepared for all of it.

- Own the day’s explainer: pick the story that most needs explaining and deliver it the same day, in 90-120 seconds
- Cover everything in GS: public policy, governance, economy, government schemes, courts, international relations, science and technology, setting, and history, as the news demands
- Connect current affairs to the static syllabus: add the constitutional provision, the history, or the map that makes today’s headline make sense
- Answer why it matters: tell the viewer why they should know about this, not what chapter it belongs to
- Build the series: regular formats such as the term explained, the scheme explained, and a weekly round-up
- Give both sides: the balance a good Mains answer demands, with no party line
- Source everything: file a source list with every script, checked by an editor before it goes out
- Present:

deliver your scripts on camera, with training and support from our video team

You’re probably a fit if

- You still read The Hindu or the Indian Express every morning, even though the exam is behind you
- You can connect today’s headline to the chapter it belongs to
- Friends and family already ask you to explain what is going on
- You can give both sides of an issue without telling people what to think
- You have explained topics to other aspirants, in a study circle, a test-series group, a class, or online
- You want your preparation to reach people, not sit in your notes

What you need

- Prelims: you have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Prelims, TGPSC, or APPSC Group 1 Prelims at least once. If you went further, to Mains or the interview, even better
- Telugu: fluent spoken and written Telugu/Tenglish. This is essential, wherever you studied
- A regular, full-time degree in any subject, from a college anywhere in India
- English reading: enough to read reports and source documents
- Hyderabad: you will work from our Hyderabad office

You don’t need a journalism degree, newsroom experience, camera experience, or a social media following. Your years of preparation count as experience here.

This role is not for you if

- You plan to write the exam again next year
- You have a political loyalty you can’t set aside on camera
- You want to write the way an exam answer reads.

Here you write for someone listening on a phone
- You want one subject only. This desk covers everything
- You don’t want to appear on camera

What success looks like

- A viewer finishes your video and finally understands a story they had only seen in headlines
- People look forward to your next explainer
- People forward it to family because it answered a real question
- Every fact holds up when someone checks it
- Telugu viewers come to Way2News when something big happens, because they know it will be explained

What you get

- A team of five: you join with four others like you, and you train and grow together
- Training from day one: a structured first month in scripting, camera delivery, and source verification
- Editorial cover: a senior editor signs off on your early scripts and on sensitive stories
- Tools: in-house research and scripting tools that carry part of the load
- A use for what you know: the syllabus you studied is the work you do here
- A clear path: Junior Editors move to Associate Editor on accuracy, consistency, and the ability to edit others, typically within 6-12 months

How to apply: Send three things to [email protected] with the subject line “Junior Editor, Current Affairs”

- A short note on your preparation: the exams you wrote, the stage you reached, your optional subject, and your Prelims roll number and year
- A 90-120 second Telugu video explaining one topic you would once have written a Mains answer on, for someone who has never heard of it (phone recording is fine)
- Your sources for the video

Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year

Benefits

- Food provided
- Health insurance
- Life insurance
- Provident Fund

Work Location: In person
