Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced AS400 / IBM i Developer to develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise applications running on IBM i systems. The candidate should have robust expertise in RPG programming, CL, DB2 for i, application maintenance, and batch processing.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop, enhance, and maintain business applications on IBM i / AS400 platforms.
- Write, modify, and debug programs using RPG, RPGLE, free-format RPG, and CL.
- Develop and maintain database objects, queries, and stored procedures using DB2 for i.
- Analyze functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications and program logic.
- Work with existing application code to implement enhancements, resolve defects, and improve maintainability.
- Develop and support batch jobs, job scheduling, and data processing workflows.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Optimize application logic, SQL queries, and program performance.
- Work with physical files, logical files, display files, and printer files as required.
- Support application integrations, data exchanges, and file-transfer processes.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment activities.
- Prepare technical documentation and maintain coding standards.
- Collaborate with business analysts,



QA teams, operations, and other technology stakeholders.
- Support application modernization and system enhancement initiatives where required.

Required Skills :

- 7 - 9 years of experience in AS400 / IBM i development.
- Strong hands-on expertise in RPG, RPGLE, and free-format RPG.
- Experience with CL programming and IBM i command-line operations.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 for i and embedded SQL.
- Experience with physical files, logical files, and database access methods.
- Understanding of batch processing, job scheduling, and production support.
- Experience debugging legacy applications and resolving complex technical issues.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing, and release management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills :

- Exposure to modern IBM i development practices and application modernization.
- Experience with APIs, system integration, and data exchange between IBM i and external systems.
- Familiarity with tools such as Aldon, TurnOver, or equivalent change management solutions.
- Knowledge of version control and deployment processes.
- Experience in banking, insurance, retail, manufacturing, or other enterprise application domains.
