General Manager - Strategic Sourcing - 18 Years - Punjab We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute General Manager - Strategic Sourcing to lead strategic procurement, category management, supplier development, and cost optimisation for a large-scale manufacturing operation in the automotive and tractor industry. The role involves managing direct and indirect procurement, raw materials, engineered components, and capital expenditure (CAPEX), while building a resilient, cost-effective, and quality-driven supply chain.

Responsibilities

- Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category management strategies for direct materials, indirect procurement, raw materials, engineered components, and capital expenditure across manufacturing operations.
- Lead procurement of critical automotive and tractor components, including hydraulics, electrical and electronic components, tyres, bearings, proprietary assemblies, steel, pig iron, scrap, and other production-related materials.
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives through clean-sheet costing, should-cost modelling, benchmark pricing, value analysis, value engineering (VA/VE), and zero-based budgeting to improve overall procurement efficiency.
- Monitor domestic and global commodity price movements, particularly metals and other critical raw materials, and implement price indexation mechanisms, long-term contracts, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Establish and strengthen supplier relationship management frameworks,



negotiate long-term agreements with strategic suppliers, and develop robust dual-sourcing strategies to minimise supply chain disruptions.
- Collaborate with R&D;, Engineering, Product Development, and Project Management teams during new product development and introduction to ensure target costing, design-to-cost alignment, and timely supplier readiness.

Requirements

- 15 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, preferably within established automotive OEMs, tractor manufacturers, or heavy commercial vehicle manufacturing organisations.
- Strong experience managing large-scale, multi-crore procurement spend across direct materials, raw materials, engineered components, indirect procurement, and CAPEX.
- Deep expertise in category management, commodity price indexation, should-cost estimation, clean-sheet costing, value engineering, commercial negotiations, and total cost of ownership (TCO) optimisation.
- Proven experience in supplier development, strategic vendor management, long-term supplier agreements, dual sourcing, localisation, and alternate sourcing strategies.
- Robust understanding of automotive and tractor components, manufacturing processes, tooling, production equipment, supplier capacity assessment, and new product development procurement.
- Experience collaborating with R&D;, Engineering, Plant Operations, Finance, and Quality teams to support product launches, supplier readiness, and manufacturing efficiency.
