Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator with robust hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL and Oracle databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database installation, configuration, administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and troubleshooting to ensure database reliability, security, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL and Oracle database environments.
- Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and overall health.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Manage database backups, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Configure and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform database patching, upgrades, migrations, and version management.
- Monitor database logs and troubleshoot performance issues, failures, and connectivity problems.
- Manage database users, roles, privileges, authentication, and access controls.
- Ensure database security, data integrity, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Manage tablespaces, storage allocation, partitioning, and database growth.
- Support database replication, clustering, and failover configurations.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to resolve database-related issues.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and database utilities.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database configuration records.




- Participate in production support, incident management, and root-cause analysis.

Mandatory Technical Skills

PostgreSQL Database Administration

- Strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with PostgreSQL backup and recovery using tools such as pg_dump, pg_restore, and pg_basebackup.
- Knowledge of streaming replication, replication slots, and failover management.
- Experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning, query plans, indexing, and EXPLAIN ANALYZE.
- Understanding of vacuuming, autovacuum, WAL management, and database maintenance.
- Experience managing PostgreSQL users, roles, permissions, and security.
- Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Patroni, where applicable.

Oracle Database Administration
- Strong hands-on experience in Oracle Database installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance.
- Experience with RMAN backup and recovery.
- Knowledge of Oracle performance tuning, SQL tuning, execution plans, and indexing.
- Experience with tablespace management, datafiles, undo, redo logs, and archive logs.
- Understanding of Oracle Data Guard, recovery procedures, and high availability.
- Experience with database patching, upgrades, and migrations.
- Knowledge of Oracle user management, roles, privileges,



and security.
- Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager and diagnostic tools.

Additional Technical Skills
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL knowledge.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of database monitoring, alerting, and log analysis.
- Experience with database migration and cross-platform data movement.
- Understanding of networking, connectivity, and database troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud is an advantage.
- Knowledge of automation tools and scripting using Bash, Python, or similar technologies.

Experience Requirements
- Relevant hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL and Oracle Database Administrator.
- Practical experience managing production database environments.
- Experience in database performance optimization, backup and recovery, and high availability.
- Ability to handle database incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide root-cause analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Oracle Database or PostgreSQL-related certifications are an advantage.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale, mission-critical database environments.
- Exposure to database automation, cloud migration, and disaster recovery planning.
