Position Title: Data Analyst
Location: India (Remote)
Employment Type: Full time
Overview The Data Analyst turns Smoothstack's program and recruiting data into clear insight that drives better decisions. You'll own the analysis of the candidate funnel, from the first landing page visit through application, coding challenge, information session booking, and cohort enrollment, identifying where candidates drop off and what's working. This role sits at the intersection of data and recruiting operations: your reporting helps recruiting, marketing, and program leadership understand performance, forecast cohort pipelines, and prioritize improvements.
You'll work remotely from India as part of a distributed team, collaborating closely with the US-based team.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports tracking funnel performance, conversion rates, and cohort pipeline health
- Analyze candidate data to identify drop-off points, trends, and opportunities to improve completion and enrollment rates
- Partner with recruiting, marketing, and program coordination to define metrics, answer ad hoc questions, and translate findings into recommendations
- Support A/B testing of landing pages, forms, and outreach by designing measurement plans and analyzing results
- Ensure data quality and consistency across the application platform, coding challenge portal, scheduling tools, and recruiting systems
- Document data definitions, reporting logic, and analysis methods so stakeholders can trust and reuse your work
- Handle candidate and program data with care, following Smoothstack's security and privacy standards
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar role
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
- Proficiency with a BI or visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar) and with spreadsheets
- Experience with Python or R for analysis is a plus, but strong SQL and visualization skills are required
- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences such as recruiters and program leads
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively across time zones
- Ability and willingness to travel to the United States annually for in-person collaboration with the US-based team, including eligibility to obtain the necessary travel documentation
Nice to Have
- Experience analyzing a hiring, recruiting, or education funnel
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems or CRM platforms
- Experience designing and measuring A/B tests
- Awareness of data security and privacy practices in regulated or federal environments
