CHIEF OF STAFF
Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Full-time | On-site
Reports to: Founder-CEO
ABOUT THE ROLE
SVECTOR is hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the Founder-CEO across product, business execution, customers, research, hiring and selected strategic initiatives.
This is not an administrative Chief of Staff role.
It is not calendar management, personal assistance or a position built around forwarding instructions between teams.
The person in this role will work directly on important company problems, understand what needs to happen, create structure where required, coordinate the relevant people and carry assigned initiatives through to a clear and verified result.
The role is designed for an early-career technical professional who wants to operate beyond a narrow software development function and work across technology, product, customers, research and business execution.
You may work on a product problem in the morning, research a market or customer in the afternoon, prepare for an enterprise conversation, evaluate candidates, coordinate an important internal initiative and follow unresolved work through to completion.
We are looking for someone technically strong, highly curious, commercially aware, comfortable with AI and capable of operating independently in a fast-moving founder-led environment.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
PRODUCT & BUSINESS EXECUTION
You will take ownership of selected product and business initiatives.
This may include
- Understanding the underlying customer, product or business problem
- Defining the intended result before execution begins
- Turning ambiguous objectives into structured plans
- Preparing problem statements, workflows and requirements
- Identifying required information, contributors and dependencies
- Establishing owners, milestones and deadlines
- Coordinating with Product, Engineering and business teams
- Identifying missing inputs and blockers
- Resolving conflicting expectations
- Escalating matters that genuinely require a decision
- Verifying whether the delivered work actually solves the original problem
- Following initiatives through to completion or an agreed handover The expectation is not simply to coordinate activity.
You should understand enough of the work to know whether the outcome is correct.
PRODUCT UNDERSTANDING
Strong product understanding is essential.
You should be comfortable learning unfamiliar software quickly and understanding:
- Users and customer problems
- Product workflows
- Current capabilities and limitations
- Product requirements
- APIs and integrations
- Data flows
- Technical dependencies
- Implementation constraints
- Acceptance criteria
- Customer feedback
- Demos and pilots
You may be asked to use the product directly, reproduce an issue, understand why something is failing, convert feedback into requirements and coordinate with the relevant team until the problem reaches a verified outcome.
You do not need to be a full time software engineer.
However, you should have enough technical understanding to work intelligently with engineers and enough business understanding to know why the technical work matters.
RESEARCH & ANALYSIS
Research is a core responsibility.
You may investigate
- Companies
- Customers
- Competitors
- Markets
- Industries
- Technologies
- Product opportunities
- Enterprise accounts
- Commercial models
- Candidates
- Market-entry questions
- Strategic business questions
We do not want surface-level summaries.
Good research should clearly separate:
- Verified facts
- Estimates
- Assumptions
- Interpretation
- Missing information
You should be comfortable reading original material, comparing conflicting evidence, checking numbers and explaining the business implications of what you find.
If something cannot be established, say so clearly.
AI-NATIVE WORK
This is an AI-native role.
You should already be comfortable using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or equivalent systems for serious professional work.
You may use AI for:
- Research
- Document analysis
- Writing
- Structured analysis
- Data organization
- Summarization
- Product thinking
- Workflow automation
- Repetitive operational work
However, AI does not replace judgment.
You remain responsible for the accuracy, completeness and confidentiality of every output.
You should be able to explain what you asked the system to do, which sources were used, what assumptions were made, what the model got wrong, what you corrected and what remains uncertain.
Submitting AI-generated work without understanding or verifying it is not acceptable.
CUSTOMER & COMMERCIAL WORK
You may support selected customer and commercial initiatives.
This may include
- Researching customers before meetings
- Understanding customer businesses and workflows
- Preparing account briefs
- Preparing agendas and talking points
- Understanding customer requirements
- Drafting follow-ups
- Preparing product and commercial material
- Supporting demonstrations and pilots
- Coordinating internal responses
- Tracking commitments and unresolved issues
- Following open work to a confirmed outcome
Sending a message is not the outcome.
Sending a follow-up is not the outcome.
The responsibility is to understand what needs to happen next and keep the work moving until there is a clear result or next state.
HIRING & PEOPLE RESEARCH The Founder’s Office may also support selected hiring initiatives.
You may work on
- Understanding why a role exists
- Preparing role briefs
- Candidate research
- Candidate sourcing
- Reviewing CVs and professional evidence
- Preparing interview briefs
- Comparing candidates
- Coordinating selection processes
- Maintaining accurate hiring records
- Supporting onboarding handovers
This is not an HR or Talent Acquisition role.
The objective is to support better hiring decisions using structured evidence.
BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
You should be able to prepare clear, structured and usable business material.
Typical outputs may include
- Customer emails
- Follow-up communication
- Research summaries
- Internal memos
- Product requirements
- Meeting briefs
- Interview briefs
- Candidate comparisons
- Talking points
- Proposal content
- Presentation outlines
- Structured project updates
Strong writing matters.
Your work should not require complete rewriting before it can be used.
OWNERSHIP STANDARD
This role is built around ownership.
We do not consider the following to be completed work:
“I sent the message.”
“I followed up.”
“I told the team.”
“I completed my part.”
The expected operating pattern is:
Understand the objective.
Build the plan.
Get the required inputs.
Move the work.
Resolve blockers.
Escalate what genuinely requires a decision.
Verify the result.
Close the loop.
For every meaningful assignment, you should understand:
- What outcome is expected
- Who is responsible
- What information is missing
- What dependencies exist
- What deadline applies
- What could block completion
- What decision is required
- What remains unresolved The role requires independent execution rather than repeated supervision.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role is specifically designed for early-career technical professionals.
We are particularly interested in candidates with educational backgrounds such as:
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Information Technology
- ICT
- Software Engineering
- Artificial Intelligence
- Machine Learning
- Data Science
- Related technical disciplines
Technical education is strongly preferred.
Typically, we are looking for candidates with approximately 1 to 5 years of professional experience.
Exceptional recent graduates with strong evidence of technical ability, ownership, product thinking or real-world execution are encouraged to apply.
You do not need previous experience with the title “Chief of Staff.”
Relevant current backgrounds may include:
- Product
- Product Operations
- Business Analysis
- Technical Consulting
- Technical Pre-Sales
- Implementation
- Solutions
- Technical Customer Success
- AI Products
- Enterprise Software
- Technical Project Execution
- Early-stage Startups
WHAT WE VALUE
HIGH OWNERSHIP
You attempt solutions and move work forward without waiting for detailed instructions at every step.
TECHNICAL FLUENCY
You can understand software products, APIs, integrations, data flows and implementation constraints.
PRODUCT THINKING
You think about users, workflows, business problems and outcomes, not only features.
RESEARCH ABILITY
You can independently enter an unfamiliar subject and reach a reasoned conclusion.
LEARNING SPEED
You can learn new industries, products and systems quickly.
STRONG COMMUNICATION
You can explain complicated matters clearly in writing and conversation.
JUDGMENT
You understand what you can resolve independently and what genuinely requires escalation.
RELIABILITY
If you commit to something, it gets done or the problem is surfaced before the deadline.
AI FLUENCY
You use modern AI systems seriously and understand their limitations.
DISCRETION
You will have access to company, customer, personnel and strategic information.
Confidential information must remain confidential and be shared only with authorized people for legitimate company work.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
This is not
- A personal assistant role
- A calendar-management position
- An administrative support role
- A pure strategy job
- An HR role
- A pure research role
- A pure software-development role
- A conventional project coordinator position
- A role where work ends after forwarding an instruction
