Business Development Manager – Education & Institutional Printing
Location: Okhla Industrial Area, New Delhi
Experience: 2–4 years (relevant printing-industry experience preferred)
Department: Sales, Marketing & Business Development
About the Role
We are looking for a commercially driven sales and business development professional from the printing, commercial printing, publishing, or print-production industry who has experience building B2B business with schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions. The person must understand institutional printing requirements and be able to open doors, develop relationships with decision-makers, convert opportunities into orders, and grow repeat business.
This is a hands-on, revenue-focused role—not a general education-sector sales position. Candidates with a proven track record of selling printed products and print solutions to educational institutions, along with an active network of relevant buyers and influencers, will be strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and acquire recent school groups, colleges, universities, coaching institutes, training institutes, and other education-sector accounts across North India.
- Generate business for the full range of institutional printing needs, including certificates, diplomas, examination papers and answer booklets, question papers, textbooks, workbooks, academic books, prospectuses, admission kits, brochures, flyers, pamphlets, newsletters, magazines, journals, booklets, annual reports, diaries, notebooks, stationery, ID cards, event collateral, and customized print material.
- Build relationships with school owners/directors, principals, registrars, examination controllers, heads of administration, purchase and procurement teams, publishers, department heads, marketing teams, and other relevant decision-makers.
- Understand each institution’s annual academic calendar, examination schedule, admission cycle, events, print volumes, specifications, quality expectations, delivery timelines, and budget to identify upcoming and recurring requirements.
- Create and maintain a strong pipeline through field visits, referrals,
industry networks, institutional databases, tenders, vendor registrations, and proactive outreach.
- Prepare quotations, cost estimates, proposals, presentations, samples, and commercial offers in coordination with internal teams; negotiate pricing and terms to close profitable business.
- Identify opportunities for annual contracts, rate agreements, empanelment, repeat orders, and multi-campus or group-level contracts to build predictable recurring revenue.
- Own the complete sales cycle—from lead generation and meetings through requirement gathering, proposal submission, negotiation, order confirmation, and relationship management after delivery.
- Coordinate with production, pre-press, design, procurement, quality, and dispatch teams to ensure print specifications, quality standards, delivery schedules, and client commitments are met.
- Maintain account plans, CRM records, sales forecasts, order status, collections follow-ups, and competitor intelligence; report pipeline, conversion, revenue, margins, and key-account progress regularly.
- Explore cross-selling and upselling opportunities across product categories and identify new institutions, geographies, and printing applications to expand business.
- Travel as required across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and other North Indian markets.
Candidate Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in sales, marketing, institutional sales, or business development, preferably with a commercial printer, printing press, print-solutions provider, publishing/educational printing company, or related print-production business.
- Demonstrated success in generating revenue by selling printed products or printing services to schools, colleges, universities, publishers,
or other institutional customers.
- Strong understanding of print products, paper and print specifications, quantities, finishing/binding options, quality expectations, production lead times, and cost drivers—or the ability to demonstrate substantial practical exposure to these areas.
- An existing network of education-sector clients and an ability to access relevant purchase, administration, examination, academic, and management stakeholders.
- Proven ability to open new accounts, manage a sales pipeline, negotiate commercials, close orders, and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Working knowledge of institutional procurement, tender participation, vendor empanelment, quotation comparisons, purchase orders, and payment/collection follow-up.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, and relationship-building skills; comfortable with field sales and frequent client visits.
- Self-driven, target-oriented, and capable of working independently while coordinating closely with internal production and operations teams.
Preferred Profile
- Candidates currently working with commercial printing presses, offset/digital printing companies, educational book and stationery printers, publishers, or print-production/service providers.
- Candidates who have personally handled accounts for schools, colleges, universities, examination boards, coaching networks, or education groups.
- Candidates able to demonstrate a portfolio of institutional accounts, repeat business, major orders won, or annual/seasonal printing contracts.
- Experience in North India markets and familiarity with institutional buying cycles will be an advantage.
- Graduate in any discipline. An MBA/PGDM in Sales or Marketing is an advantage; relevant industry experience and demonstrated business-generation results will carry greater weight.
- Excellent communication skills
