## Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced VoIP Carrier Setup Engineer responsible for configuring, integrating, testing, and maintaining VoIP carrier connections and voice-routing infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with SIP trunk provisioning, carrier interconnections, softswitch configuration, international voice routing, and troubleshooting production-level telecommunication issues.

The candidate must be capable of taking a new carrier connection from initial configuration through testing and production deployment, ensuring reliable connectivity, optimal call quality, and uninterrupted voice traffic.

## Key Responsibilities

- Configure, integrate, and deploy SIP trunks and carrier connections for inbound and outbound voice traffic.

- Set up and manage carrier interconnections, including IP authentication, SIP registration, signalling parameters, codecs, and RTP media configuration.

- Configure and maintain VoIP softswitches such as VOS3000, MediaCore, Nexge, VoIPSwitch, FreeSWITCH, or Asterisk.

- Configure inbound and outbound routing, destination-based routing, route priorities, least-cost routing (LCR), and carrier failover.

- Perform end-to-end testing of new carrier connections, including test calls, CLI verification, DID mapping, call completion, and audio quality checks.

- Troubleshoot SIP signalling failures, registration issues, call rejection codes, one-way audio, DTMF issues, packet loss, jitter, latency, and codec mismatches.

- Monitor international voice routes and performance metrics such as ASR, ACD, PDD, call completion rates, and route quality.





- Manage concurrent-call limits, calls per second (CPS), traffic distribution, and routing capacity as required.

- Coordinate with carrier technical teams and NOCs to resolve interconnection, routing, and call-quality issues.

- Monitor CDRs, investigate failed calls, support billing and traffic reconciliation, and identify discrepancies where required.

- Maintain technical documentation for carrier configurations, routing changes, test results, incidents, and troubleshooting procedures.

- Ensure infrastructure availability, route reliability, and timely resolution of production incidents.

## Required Skills and Qualifications

- 3–8+ years of hands-on experience in VoIP engineering, carrier setup, telecom operations, or voice-routing infrastructure.

- Practical experience configuring and deploying SIP trunks and external carrier connections.

- Strong knowledge of SIP, SDP, RTP, DTMF, codecs, SIP response codes, and VoIP call flows.

- Experience with one or more carrier-grade softswitches, such as VOS3000, MediaCore, Nexge, or VoIPSwitch.

- Working experience with FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, or comparable platforms.

- Strong understanding of inbound/outbound dial plans, destination routing, failover, and route testing.

- Hands-on troubleshooting experience using Wireshark, SIP traces, PCAP captures, Linux tools, and network diagnostics.

- Understanding of IP networking, NAT, firewalls, RTP port ranges, latency, jitter, and packet loss.





- Ability to independently configure, test, troubleshoot, and deploy carrier connections in a live environment.

- Strong analytical, incident-management, and problem-solving skills.

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with international wholesale voice traffic and carrier interconnections.

- Exposure to least-cost routing, route optimization, and carrier traffic management.

- Familiarity with ASR, ACD, PDD, CPS, concurrent-call limits, and CDR analysis.

- Experience coordinating with international telecom carriers and technical support teams.

- Knowledge of Linux-based telephony infrastructure and high-availability configurations.

- Successful setup and activation of current carrier connections.

- Accurate configuration and testing of inbound and outbound voice routes.

- Timely resolution of carrier connectivity and call-quality issues.

- Reliable voice routing with effective failover and minimal service disruption.

- Proper documentation of carrier configurations and production changes.

## Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on VoIP engineer who has personally configured external carrier connections, worked with softswitches, tested international voice routes, and resolved live production issues. Candidates whose experience is limited to general IT support, software development, or monitoring existing systems without practical carrier configuration experience may not be suitable for this role.
