Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced CAD Engineer / Head of R&D; to lead our internal mold design and tooling engineering team. In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of complex, high-precision plastic injection molds—from product DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and mold flow analysis to tool design, prototyping, and production validation for our in-house precision components.

You will manage and mentor a dedicated team of mold designers, CAD engineers, and tooling specialists to deliver tight-tolerance, high-cavitation, and cutting-edge mold solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Management

- Lead, recruit, and mentor a high-performing team of CAD engineers, mold designers, and R&D; specialists.
- Manage engineering project timelines, resource allocation, tool budget estimates, and team KPIs.
- Standardize design protocols, standard mold bases, component libraries, and CAD/CAM documentation workflows across the department.

Mold Design & Tooling R&D;

- Drive end-to-end design of precision injection molds (multi-cavity, hot runner systems, unscrewing molds, two-shot/overmolding, slider/lifter mechanisms).
- Perform and analyze Moldflow / CAE simulations (fill, pack, warp, cooling analysis, gate placement) to eliminate defects before cutting steel.
- Conduct thorough DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews with internal product development teams to optimize plastic part geometry for molding.
- Oversee 3D CAD modeling, 2D detailed machining drawings, electrode design, and complex surface modeling using software such as SolidWorks.

Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement

- Partner closely with internal CNC programmers, EDM specialists, mold makers, and injection molding process engineers.




- Lead root-cause analysis and troubleshooting during mold trials (T0/T1 runs) to resolve flash, sink marks, warpage, or dimensional out-of-spec issues.
- Research and implement advanced tooling techniques (e.g., conformal cooling, high-wear steel selection, surface coatings, micro-molding technologies).

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tooling Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 8–15+ years in plastic injection mold design, with at least 3–5 years in an engineering lead or managerial capacity.
- Tooling Expertise: Deep technical expertise in multi-cavity precision mold design, hot runner systems, tight-tolerance tooling, and mold construction.
- Technical Software: Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks) and mold flow analysis software (Moldflow, Moldex3D).
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading technical teams, managing tooling schedules, and driving R&D; initiatives in precision plastics.

Preferred Skills

- Practical background in hands-on toolmaking, CNC machining, wire EDM, or CMM inspection.
- Experience in high-precision industries (e.g., medical devices, automotive electronics, aerospace, connectors/micro-components).
- Strong knowledge of engineering resins (e.g., PEEK, LCP, PA66, PC/ABS, PBT) and their shrinkage/processing characteristics.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹9,700.57 - ₹55,000.00 per month
