JOB PROFILE – MAINTENANCE HEAD

Job Responsibilities

A. Mechanical Maintenance

- Handle overall mechanical maintenance of the steel plant, including induction furnaces, CCM, rolling mills, presses, pipe mills, cranes and other production equipment.
- Plan and implement preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance to minimise machine downtime and production losses.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults in plant machinery.
- Supervise maintenance engineers, fitters, welders, technicians and other maintenance staff.
- Ensure proper functioning of motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, hydraulic systems, cooling systems and lubrication systems.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify recurring breakdowns to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain equipment history, breakdown records and preventive maintenance schedules.

B. Electrical Maintenance and Substations

- Handle the operation, preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance of the plant's 66 kV and 11 kV substations.
- Supervise maintenance of power transformers, HT/LT panels, switchgear, circuit breakers, isolators, protection relays, CTs, PTs and associated electrical equipment.
- Ensure proper functioning of transformer protection systems, electrical interlocks, earthing systems and power distribution networks.
- Monitor transformer loading, power factor, electrical consumption and power distribution across the plant.
- Arrange and monitor transformer oil testing, insulation resistance testing, earthing checks and protection system testing as applicable.
- Ensure proper maintenance of induction furnace electrical systems, motors, control panels, drives,



cables and other critical electrical equipment.
- Coordinate with the electricity department, authorised contractors and service providers for substation maintenance, shutdowns, inspections and major electrical repairs.
- Ensure that all HT and substation work is carried out by authorised and competent personnel under approved safety procedures and applicable electrical regulations.

C. Maintenance Planning and Team Management

- Prepare and implement daily, weekly and monthly maintenance plans.
- Supervise maintenance engineers, electricians, fitters, welders and technicians and ensure proper utilisation of manpower.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments to plan maintenance activities without unnecessary production interruptions.
- Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and maintain proper inventory control.
- Monitor maintenance expenses, spare consumption and repair costs, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Coordinate with external vendors and equipment suppliers for servicing, repairs and technical support.
- Review pending maintenance jobs and ensure timely closure of maintenance complaints.

D. Safety and Reporting

- Ensure compliance with electrical safety, machine safety, lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures.
- Ensure protected working practices during high-voltage maintenance, crane maintenance, furnace repairs and other hazardous activities.
- Maintain breakdown reports, downtime records, maintenance schedules,



inspection reports and statutory documentation.
- Submit daily maintenance reports to management, covering breakdowns, downtime, maintenance completed, pending jobs and major concerns.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, plant availability and overall maintenance efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

- Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in steel manufacturing or a heavy industrial plant.
- Strong hands-on experience in 66 kV and 11 kV substations, HT/LT systems and industrial electrical maintenance.
- Good knowledge of induction furnaces, CCM, rolling mills, EOT cranes, hydraulic systems and heavy industrial machinery.
- Experience in preventive maintenance, breakdown analysis, troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
- Ability to manage mechanical and electrical maintenance teams.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, protection systems and applicable statutory requirements.
- Good coordination, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to attend emergency breakdowns and support plant operations as required.

- Timely completion of preventive maintenance.
- Improved equipment reliability and plant availability.
- Reduction in maintenance costs and unnecessary spare consumption.
- Timely resolution of maintenance complaints.

- Compliance with electrical safety requirements and maintenance schedules.
- Timely submission of maintenance reports to management.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹550,000.00 per month
