Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 4+ years of experience in structural engineering. The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, be proficient in STAAD.Pro, IDEA Statica, Tekla Tedds, and AutoCAD, and possess strong analytical skills to support residential engineering projects.

Mandatory experience in Steel Structures - Residential/Industrial

Preferred : CFS (Cold Formed Structures), LGSF (Light Gauge Steel Frame), or Timber is required.

About the role

The Baya Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to independently manage structural analysis, design and technical delivery for international residential projects, including current builds, extensions, loft conversions and refurbishments.

Key responsibilities

- Design and analyse steel structures(Mandatory) and Timber, including beams, columns, floors, roofs, frames and connections.
- Produce structural calculations, design reports and construction details compliant with applicable local codes.
- Assess existing structures and develop practical solutions for alterations and extensions.
- Review calculations and drawings, ensuring accuracy, coordination and buildability.
- Coordinate directly with international clients, architects and project teams.
- Guide junior engineers,



resolve technical queries and maintain delivery quality and deadlines.

Mandatory requirements

- Maters’s degree in Structural Engineering with 4+ years of relevant structural engineering experience in Steel Structures.
- Proven hands-on design experience in steel structures, including connection design.
- Demonstrable experience delivering residential projects for at least one of the UK, Europe, US or Australian markets.
- Working knowledge of the structural codes and standards applicable to the markets previously served.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, with practical experience in STAAD.Pro, IDEA StatiCa and AutoCAD.
- Ability to independently take projects from the brief through calculations, drawings and technical review.
- Strong spoken and written English for client discussions and technical communication.

Desirable skills

- Experience across more than one of the UK, Europe,US and Australian markets.
- Design experience in timber / cold-formed steel/light gauge steel framing (CFS/LGSF).
- Familiarity with residential foundations, masonry and reinforced concrete.
- Experience mentoring engineers and checking their work.

Scope of Role and Responsibilities other than designing

1. Structural Design & Analysis:

- Assist in structural design calculations for residential projects.
- Support senior engineers in analysing load-bearing capacities and stability assessments.
- Apply engineering principles to ensure safe and efficient structural solutions.

2. Technical Drafting & Documentation:

- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, and technical reports.
- Work with STAAD.Pro, IDEA Statica, Tekla Tedds, and AutoCAD to create accurate Projects.
- Ensure compliance with UK building codes and regulations.

3. Team Collaboration & Coordination:

- Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to develop structural solutions.
- Assist in integrating engineering components with architectural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) designs.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance:

- Conduct self-checks and peer reviews of engineering designs to ensure accuracy.
- Follow industry best practices and stay updated on advancements in structural engineering.
