Job Overview

Anuprerna Artisan Alliance is seeking an experienced, proactive Textile Production & Merchandising Manager to lead end-to-end textile operations, quality assurance, and artisan cluster management.

In this pivotal operational role, you will bridge client requirements and on-ground production. You will be responsible for translating design and client orders into structured production plans, managing Time & Action (T&A;) calendars, overseeing raw material procurement and dyeing/weaving processes, enforcing strict quality standards, and directly leading field supervisors and artisan teams.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of yarns, natural fibers, weave structures, and finishing, paired with hands-on commercial merchandising acumen and the leadership ability to ensure on-time, defect-free delivery.

Key Responsibilities. Production Planning & Cluster Execution

- Develop, monitor, and execute comprehensive Time & Action (T&A;) production calendars across all running orders to ensure 100% on-time delivery.
- Plan loom capacities, manage yarn consumption matrices, and allocate production runs across internal units, weaver clusters, and external dyeing facilities.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP) from raw yarn procurement, warping, and dyeing through weaving, washing, finishing, and packing.
- Proactively identify production bottlenecks, material shortages, or weather-dependent delays, implementing rapid corrective actions.

2. Textile Merchandising & Costing

- Coordinate order specifications, approvals, and buyer requirements from initial sampling through bulk dispatch.
- Prepare accurate Bill of Materials (BOM), cost breakdowns, fabric yields, and consumption estimates for custom developments and commercial collections.
- Manage sampling cycles, lab dips, strike-offs, and counter-samples,

obtaining formal sign-offs before bulk production rollout.
- Serve as the technical link between internal management/sales and field execution teams.

3. Quality Assurance & Technical Control (QA/QC)

- Establish and implement standardized inspection protocols across raw materials (yarn count, strength, twist), in-line weaving, and final fabric finishing.
- Supervise physical testing parameters including GSM, dimensional stability (shrinkage), colorfastness, rub fastness, and weaving defect tolerances (utilizing 4-Point System or relevant international standards).
- Audit dyeing units (natural and azo-free certified processes) to ensure batch-to-batch shade consistency and lot integrity.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on defects and implement preventive measures to systematically drive down rejections.

4. Team Leadership & Artisan Management

- Direct and mentor on-site supervisors, quality checkers, logistics staff, and weaver cluster coordinators.
- Foster fair, skilled, and productive relationships with artisan networks, weavers, and dyeing partners.
- Maintain clean production ERP records, inventory audits, and regular status reports for executive management.

Candidate Profile & Eligibility Criteria

- Education: Degree or Diploma in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Textile Design, or Apparel Production (e.g., GCETT, NIFT, or recognized textile institutes).
- Experience: 4 to 8+ years of hands-on experience in textile production,

merchandising, or quality assurance within textile mills, handloom/powerloom clusters, export houses, or sustainable textile enterprises.
- Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of fiber classifications, yarn counts, weave constructions (plain, twill, dobby, jacquard), GSM analysis, dyeing mechanics, and post-loom finishing treatments.
- Process Knowledge: Familiarity with handloom, artisanal textile techniques, natural fibers (silk, linen, cotton), and eco-conscious or sustainable finishing standards is strongly preferred.
- Operational Skills: High proficiency in creating and managing T&A; schedules, fabric costing, and inventory tracking using MS Excel / Google Sheets or textile ERP tools.
- Languages & Leadership: Strong cross-functional leadership skills. Ability to communicate effectively with artisans and local weavers in Bengali, along with professional working proficiency in English or Hindi for reporting.
