About the Role

Utkal Innovatives is seeking an experienced, hands-on Machine Shop Incharge to oversee daily machining and fabrication shop operations at our Jharsuguda plant. The ideal candidate will manage the machining of heavy-duty components for bulk material handling equipment, crushing machinery (jaw, cone, double roll crushers), apron feeders, conveyor chains, and mining spares.

Key Responsibilities

1. Heavy Machining & Daily Production

- Plan and organize daily machining activities for heavy industrial components (crusher shafts, roll liners, sprockets, conveyor pulleys, gear assemblies, and feeder frames).
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, machining tolerances, and GD&T; requirements for heavy fabrication and assembly work.
- Allocate jobs to lathe operators, VMC/CNC machinists, horizontal borers, radial drillers, and technicians based on priority and machine capacities.
- Monitor machine utilization, minimize setup delays, and achieve daily production output targets.

2. Tooling, Machine Maintenance & Shop Upkeep

- Supervise Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for all conventional heavy lathes, milling machines, VMCs, boring machines, and grinding setups.
- Manage cutting tools, carbide inserts, boring bars,



and fixtures; maintain reorder stock levels to ensure zero operational downtime.
- Enforce 5S standards to maintain an organized, clean, and secure machine shop floor.

3. Manpower Leadership & Safety

- Manage, guide, and train shift machinists, operators, and helpers on safety procedures and efficient machining practices.
- Enforce 100% compliance with plant safety norms, PPE usage, and heavy crane/hoist handling safety during part loading/unloading.
- Track worker attendance, shift schedules, overtime, and productivity KPIs.

Desired Candidate Profile & Key Qualifications

- Education: Diploma or B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience: 2-3 years of core machine shop experience, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory/incharge role within heavy engineering, mining equipment, coal handling plant spares, or machinery manufacturing units.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in conventional heavy machining (heavy duty lathes, boring, milling) and CNC/VMC setups.
- Strong knowledge of materials (alloy steels, high-manganese steel castings, mild steel) and appropriate cutting parameters.
- Proficiency in reading technical manufacturing drawings and assembly layouts.
- Experience handling heavy components requiring overhead crane/rigging setups.

Pay: ₹14,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
