- Perform 2D, M-Mode, Doppler and Color Doppler echocardiography as prescribed by the cardiologist.
- Conduct Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) and assist with specialized studies as per hospital scope and training.
- Prepare patients for echocardiography by explaining the procedure, positioning them appropriately and ensuring patient comfort.
- Operate and maintain echocardiography machines, probes and related equipment.
- Obtain technically accurate cardiac images and Doppler measurements according to departmental protocols.
- Assess and record relevant parameters such as chamber dimensions, ventricular function, valve findings, Doppler measurements and hemodynamic parameters.
- Ensure appropriate image optimization, labeling, measurements and storage of studies in the hospital system/PACS.
- Assist the cardiologist during stress echocardiography, contrast echo and other specialized cardiac imaging procedures, where applicable.
- Recognize technically inadequate or abnormal findings and promptly communicate relevant observations to the cardiologist,
without independently diagnosing beyond the role's scope.
- Maintain proper patient records, procedure logs and echocardiography reports/documentation as required.
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety and equipment-safety protocols.
- Clean and disinfect probes and equipment according to hospital guidelines.
- Coordinate with cardiologists, nurses, technicians, OPD/IPD, ICU and emergency departments for scheduled and urgent investigations.
- Prioritize emergency and inpatient echocardiography requests appropriately.
- Ensure timely completion and availability of echo studies/reports as per departmental TAT.
- Monitor equipment performance and report technical problems to the biomedical engineering/service team.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with hospital policies and quality standards.
- Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement activities and training programs.
