Mela is hiring for this role on behalf of a content studio in Mumbai. The next step is to ask Mela for an intro: share your portfolio and have a short chat. If your work fits the role, Mela will introduce you to the team.

Job title

Videographer & Editor (Cinematographer)

Salary

₹6–7 LPA

Company

A Mumbai content studio that makes YouTube videos, Shorts and Reels for its clients.

About the role

You'll shoot and edit content for the studio's clients: long-form YouTube videos, Shorts and Reels. Shoots come first. There isn't a shoot every day, so between shoots you'll edit your footage into publish-ready videos. You need to be genuinely good at both. This isn't a role for a cinematographer who edits a little, or an editor who shoots now and then.

Location

Mumbai · On-site

Why this role stands out

• You own each video from planning the shoot to the final cut.

• You'll shoot long-form and short-form for several clients, each with their own style.

• Your work is judged on results: how the videos perform on watch time, retention and engagement.

What you'll do

• Plan each shoot from the brief, shot list and script: the lighting, camera setup, frames and shot coverage for long-form, Shorts and Reels.

• Coordinate equipment and location logistics with the production team.

Shooting -

• Run the camera and lighting on set to match each client's visual style and platform, and keep shoots on time, on budget and within their scheduled windows.

• Shoot long-form and Shorts/Reels in the same session when needed, knowing how coverage differs between formats, and keep quality and continuity consistent across a shoot day.

Editing -

• Cut your footage into long-form videos, Shorts and Reels following the brief, with strong hooks, good pacing and cuts that suit each platform.

• Add captions, sound design,

motion graphics and basic color correction as needed, and keep each client's visual and editing style consistent over time.

Revisions -

• Work in feedback from account managers and clients within the agreed turnaround, keep clear track of revision rounds and what's approved, and deliver final files in the right specs for each platform.

The ideal candidate

• At least 2 years of shooting and editing for YouTube and/or Instagram. You need both skills, and shooting is the bigger part of the job.

• Solid camera operation, lighting and composition for long-form and short-form content.

• Strong command of Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve. After Effects is a plus.

• A sharp sense of pacing and retention for YouTube long-form, Shorts and Reels.

• Comfortable shooting and editing on your own, and able to juggle several client shoots and edits at once.

• Bonus: gimbal or stabilizer work, basic sound recording, or experience with creator and personal-brand content.
