. Job Purpose To assist welders, fabricators, and fitters in carrying out fabrication activities involving MS plates, pipes, structural sections, and other engineering materials. The helper is responsible for material preparation, handling, housekeeping, tool assistance, and supporting fabrication work according to drawings, supervisor instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. 2. Key Responsibilities Assist fabricators, welders, and fitters in daily workshop and site fabrication activities. Handle, shift, stack, and arrange raw materials such as MS plates, pipes, angles, channels, beams, and flats. Assist in material marking, measurement, cutting, grinding, drilling, and edge preparation under supervision. Support fitters in component alignment, positioning, clamping, and fit-up activities. Arrange and provide required tools, consumables, and materials to welders and fitters. Assist in cleaning weld joints, removing burrs, slag, rust, and sharp edges. Help in loading, unloading, and shifting fabricated components using approved material-handling methods. Maintain proper identification and storage of materials and fabricated items. Keep the fabrication area clean and organized, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly after use. Follow instructions provided by the supervisor and complete assigned jobs within the specified time. Follow company safety procedures and use appropriate PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, goggles, helmets, and hearing protection. Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, equipment defects, and workplace hazards to the supervisor. 3.



Skills and Competencies Basic understanding of engineering materials and fabrication activities. Familiarity with hand tools, measuring tapes, grinders, and other workshop equipment is desirable. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with a fabrication team. Willingness to learn fabrication techniques and industrial safety practices. Physically fit for material handling and workshop duties. Positive discipline, punctuality, teamwork, and attention to cleanliness. Basic understanding of workplace safety and PPE requirements. 4. Qualification and Experience Minimum qualification: 8th or 10th standard preferred. Freshers may apply; previous experience in an engineering or fabrication workshop is an advantage. ITI in Fitter, Welder, or a related trade is preferred but not mandatory. 5. Safety and Quality Responsibilities Never operate cutting, grinding, lifting, or other machinery without authorization and required training. Follow hot-work, fire-prevention, and material-handling safety procedures. Ensure materials and components are handled without causing damage or deformation. Keep walkways and work areas free from scrap, obstructions, and trip hazards. Support the team in maintaining the required quality and cleanliness standards. 6. Performance Expectations Timely completion of assigned helper activities. Proper handling and storage of materials and tools. Compliance with PPE requirements and safety procedures. Effective support to welders, fitters, and fabricators. Maintenance of workplace housekeeping and discipline.
