Physician Assistant – Hospital

Department: Outpatient Department (OPD)

Reporting To: General Physician / Medical Superintendent

Qualification: Relevant qualification in Physician Assistant studies

Experience: Hospital experience preferred; experience in a General Physician's OPD is an added advantage.

Job Summary

We are looking for a responsible and patient-focused Physician Assistant to support the General Physician in the Outpatient Department (OPD). The candidate will assist with patient assessment, clinical documentation, consultation support, and coordination of patient care to ensure smooth and efficient OPD operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the General Physician during OPD consultations.
- Record patient history, presenting complaints, vital signs, and other relevant clinical information.
- Prepare and maintain patient medical records and consultation notes.
- Assist the doctor with clinical examinations and procedures as required.
- Coordinate patient flow and ensure smooth functioning of the OPD.
- Assist in reviewing investigation reports and organizing patient records for the doctor's assessment.
- Explain prescribed investigations and follow-up instructions to patients as directed by the doctor.
- Coordinate with the nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, and other hospital departments.
- Ensure proper documentation and confidentiality of patient information.




- Support appointment scheduling, follow-up visits, and continuity of patient care.
- Follow hospital protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety guidelines.
- Perform duties within the scope of qualification and under appropriate medical supervision.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant qualification in Physician Assistant studies.
- Valuable communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of general medicine and common clinical conditions.
- Ability to take patient history and record vital signs accurately.
- Good documentation and computer skills.
- Compassionate approach to patient care and ability to work in a team.

Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Experience assisting a General Physician in the OPD.
- Familiarity with hospital management software and electronic medical records.
