Job Title: Staff Nurse

1. Job Purpose

To provide safe, compassionate, and productive nursing care to patients in general nursing areas and provide specialized nursing assistance to mothers and newborns in the Labour Room.
1. Key Responsibilities

A. General Nursing Care

- Assess patients and monitor vital signs, clinical condition, and response to treatment.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and treatments as prescribed by the treating doctor.
- Maintain nursing records, medication charts, intake-output charts, and patient care documentation.
- Assist doctors during examinations, procedures, and emergency interventions.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care as required.
- Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, privacy, and dignity.
- Ensure proper patient handover during shift changes.

B. Labour Room & Maternity Care

- Prepare the Labour Room, instruments, equipment, and emergency supplies before procedures and deliveries.
- Monitor maternal vital signs, labour progress, and fetal heart rate as per the doctor's instructions and approved protocols.
- Assist obstetricians during normal deliveries and other obstetric procedures within the scope of practice.
- Provide care to mothers during labour, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Perform newborn care immediately after birth, including assessment, warmth, identification, and breastfeeding support.
- Ensure readiness of newborn resuscitation equipment and assist in neonatal resuscitation when required and trained.




- Observe and promptly report warning signs such as excessive bleeding, fetal distress, seizures, or maternal instability.
- Promote early breastfeeding, skin-to-skin contact, and mother-baby bonding as clinically appropriate.
- Maintain delivery registers, labour records, birth records, and other required documentation.

C. Patient Safety & Infection Control

- Follow hand hygiene, PPE, aseptic techniques, and standard precautions.
- Ensure proper sterilization practices and biomedical waste segregation.
- Follow medication safety protocols, patient identification procedures, and hospital patient safety goals.
- Report incidents, medication errors, needle-stick injuries, and near misses promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of nursing equipment, emergency trays, and crash carts.

D. Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

- Maintain punctuality, attendance, uniform, and professional behaviour.
- Participate in staff training, drills, audits, and competency assessments.
- Coordinate with doctors, laboratory, pharmacy, housekeeping, and other departments.
- Educate patients and attendants regarding treatment, hygiene, medication, breastfeeding, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with hospital policies and applicable NABH standards.

1. Qualification & Experience

- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the State Nursing Council.
- Experience in general nursing and Labour Room preferred.
- Training in BLS, infection control preferred.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
