Staff Nurse :-

A Staff Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, administering medications, monitoring patients’ health, assisting doctors, and maintaining accurate nursing records while ensuring patient safety and comfort. 1.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Patient care: Assess patients’ health conditions and provide routine and specialized nursing care.

Vital signs monitoring: Check and record temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and pain levels.

Medication administration: Administer prescribed medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments according to hospital protocols.

Patient assessment: Observe patients for changes in their condition and promptly report abnormalities to the treating doctor.

Clinical procedures: Perform wound dressing, catheter care, specimen collection, and other nursing procedures within the scope of practice.

Doctor assistance: Assist doctors during examinations, medical procedures, and emergency interventions.

Documentation: Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication charts, treatment records,



and patient care documentation.

Infection control: Follow hand hygiene, sterilization, biomedical waste disposal, and infection prevention protocols.

Patient education: Educate patients and their families about medications, treatment plans, hygiene, and discharge instructions.

Emergency care: Recognize emergencies and provide immediate nursing assistance, including CPR and basic life support within the level of training.

Patient safety: Prevent falls, pressure injuries, medication errors, and other avoidable complications.

Handover: Provide clear and complete patient handovers during shift changes.

Teamwork: Coordinate with doctors, nursing supervisors, and other healthcare professionals.

Equipment management: Ensure nursing equipment is clean, functional, and available for patient care.
