Experience Required: 8–12 Years

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.

1. Job Purpose

To lead and manage overall production operations, ensuring achievement of production targets, optimum utilization of manpower and machinery, product quality, cost control, timely delivery, and compliance with safety standards in a manufacturing workplace.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Production Planning and Execution

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders and delivery schedules.
- Ensure achievement of production targets, productivity, and on-time delivery.
- Monitor production activities across all manufacturing processes and resolve bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with Sales, Planning, Purchase, Stores, Quality, and Maintenance departments.
- Ensure effective utilization of machines, manpower, materials, and other resources.

B. Manufacturing Operations
- Supervise day-to-day production activities and ensure smooth workflow.
- Monitor machine utilization, cycle time, output, rejection rates, and production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and reduction of production downtime.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process parameters.
- Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

C. Quality Control
- Coordinate with the Quality Department to maintain product quality and specifications.
- Minimize rejection, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented for recurring production issues.
- Maintain process discipline and ensure compliance with approved quality standards.

D. Manpower Management
- Manage production supervisors, engineers, operators,



and contract workers.
- Allocate manpower according to production requirements and employee skill levels.
- Monitor employee productivity, attendance, discipline, and performance.
- Identify training needs and develop the technical capabilities of the production team.
- Conduct regular production meetings and performance reviews.

E. Maintenance and Equipment
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Monitor machine downtime and ensure timely resolution of breakdowns.
- Ensure proper handling and utilization of production equipment, tools, and fixtures.
- Work towards improving machine availability and reducing unplanned downtime.

F. Material and Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to ensure the availability of raw materials and consumables.
- Monitor material consumption, wastage, and scrap.
- Ensure proper material traceability, storage, and identification at production locations.
- Report material shortages and production constraints in advance.

G. SAP and MIS Reporting
- Ensure accurate recording of production data in SAP or the applicable ERP system.
- Monitor production orders, material consumption, production confirmations, and rejection entries.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Track production targets versus actual output, machine utilization, downtime, and rejection.
- Analyse production performance and submit reports to management.

H. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with factory safety rules, PPE requirements, and applicable statutory standards.
- Maintain good housekeeping and workplace discipline.
- Ensure safe operating practices and conduct regular safety awareness activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, and near-miss incidents promptly.
