About the role
The Ken publishes a lot of original journalism: daily stories, newsletters, podcasts, visual stories, survey-based stories, and events. Most of it reaches the people who already subscribe. The people who should see it but don’t are on Linkedin, X, Instagram, and YouTube. This role owns curation, production, and distribution, using an editor’s judgment: what goes out, in what shape, when, and whether it worked.
What you will do
Curate. Every day, choose what from The Ken should go out on social: new stories, archive stories that matter again, writer takes, podcast episodes, newsletters, survey results, event moments. Package. Turn journalism into native formats: LinkedIn posts and carousels, X threads, Instagram posts and reels, short video and audio clips, quote cards, charts. You don’t write original analysis. You make the reporting easy to grasp and hard to scroll past, without misrepresenting it.
Distribute. Own the publishing calendar across The Ken’s accounts. Decide what goes where and when, and how one story gets a week of life across platforms.
Amplify. Get the journalism into the right hands. Work with reporters, hosts, and editors on their own accounts. Join relevant conversations. Build relationships with the people and communities who share good work.
Measure and adjust. Track what works by platform and format, report weekly, change the mix.
Watch whether social is sending people to The Ken, not just collecting likes.
Protect the brand. Every post remains accurate, fair to the reporting, and sounding like The Ken. Know when not to post.
What we are looking for
2 to 4 years in social media, audience, digital production, or content, ideally at a media company, newsletter, or brand with a robust editorial voice. We care more about an account you grew than a title you held. You will do well here if:
– You’ve grown an account or channel and can explain how, with numbers.
– You have news judgment and taste about what’s worth amplifying, and you can say no to a colleague’s request to post something that isn’t.
– You can write and package differently for Linkedin, X, Instagram, and YouTube, and you know what each rewards.
– You’re comfortable with design tools (Canva, Figma, or similar) and basic video and audio editing; your output looks professional and consistent.
– You work fast, run a busy calendar, and still catch the typo.
– You’re curious about business and can package complex stories without dumbing them down.
– You read your numbers daily and change the mix because of them.
– Bonus: short-form video, podcast clipping, or data visualisation.
What you get
The public face of a publication people respect even when it’s written about them. A calendar that’s yours. Material most social roles never get: original reporting, a daily take, podcasts with founders, survey results from thousands of subscribers, live events. And a scoreboard, so your work shows.
