Job Summary:

The Sr. R&D; Purchase Lead will manage the procurement strategy for all development-stage materials, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant sourcing of APIs, reference listed drugs (RLDs), and excipients. This role bridges R&D;, Quality Assurance (QA), Regulatory Affairs, and commercial manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

- R&D; Material Sourcing: Coordinate the timely procurement of APIs, reference standards, and specialized excipients for lab-scale, pilot, exhibit, and validation batches across global markets (US, EU, ROW, Domestic).
- Vendor & Partner Management: Identify, evaluate, and qualify alternate or backup API suppliers to guarantee supply continuity and competitive pricing.
- Regulatory & Documentation Coordination: Arrange Drug Master Files (DMFs), Certificates of Analysis (COAs), Validation Questionnaires (VQs), and Free of Cost (FOC) sample documentation in sync with QA and Regulatory teams for dossier filings.




- Contract & Commercial Negotiation: Lead price negotiations, Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), and supply agreements with strategic API manufacturers and CMOs/CROs.
- Cost Optimization & Feasibility: Build business cases, project feasibility studies, and product costing models to support R&D; pipeline decisions.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Formulations R&D;, Analytical Development (ARD), Projects, and Commercial Procurement to ensure smooth technology transfer from R&D; to commercial production.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: B. Pharm / M. Pharm degree (mandatory for technical comprehension of APIs and formulations); MBA in Supply Chain or Operations is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of pharmaceutical procurement experience, with hands-on specialization in R&D; procurement and API/RLD sourcing.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with US FDA, EMA, WHO, and domestic GMP/CDSCO guidelines.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems (such as SAP MM) and project tracking tools.
- Soft Skills: Solid analytical negotiation, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and interpersonal skills.
