About Cloud Operations

Cloud Operations mission is to deliver the best-in-class connected services in public clouds for Tally’s customers by ensuring unmatched reliability, strong security realized at the most optimal cost. Role: Senior Cloud Operations Engineer/Associate Staff Engineer

Experience: 7 - 12 years

Location: Bangalore

What You Will Own In this role, you will own the reliability, scalability, and security of Tally's cloud infrastructure end-to-end, driving architectural decisions that shape the evolution of the platform. You will work closely with engineering, security, and product teams to lead major infrastructure initiatives, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers through complex, business-critical deployments. You will also champion an automation-first approach and establish robust observability practices across the platform, proactively identifying systemic risks, preventing incidents, and driving permanent root-cause solutions instead of temporary fixes.

Where your Expertise Meets Our Future

Deep, hands-on expertise architecting, configuring, and troubleshooting large-scale,



production-grade services in OCI / AWS cloud environments, with a track record of resolving complex, ambiguous issues under pressure.

Proven experience owning the full lifecycle of application deployment and management in OCI / AWS cloud, including capacity planning, performance optimization, cost governance, and driving reliability at scale.

AWS and OCI cloud operations are central to this role — candidates with strong, demonstrable depth in either platform are encouraged to apply; you'llbe expected to quickly build cross-platform proficiency and bring senior-level judgment to design and operational trade-offs across both environments.

Strong track record of designing, deploying, and running production Kubernetes clusters at scale using OCI OKE and/or AWS EKS, including cluster architecture decisions, workload management, upgrade strategy, and cluster health monitoring.

Proven ability to lead rapid, high-pressure troubleshooting of complex, multi-layered infrastructure, OS, and application issues ,acting as an escalation point and driving incidents through root cause analysis(RCA) to full service restoration.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and represent the cloud operations function in cross-functional and leadership discussions.

Intermediate Skills Required

Advanced expertise in configuring, hardening, and maintaining Linux hosts at scale, with strong shell scripting skills to build reusable operational tooling.

Deep, hands-on expertise with container technology such as Docker, and strong command of the OCI OKE and AWS EKS ecosystems, including designing for scale and resilience.

Strong command of network security architecture, including firewall rule management, network segmentation, zero-trust principles,



and cloud security groups/NACLs, with the judgment to make and defend design trade-offs.

Strong grounding in CI/CD pipeline design and DevOps principles, with experience improving pipeline reliability and deployment velocity across teams.

Solid operational experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, including performance tuning and high-availability design.

Strong Python skills for building automation and tooling, along with solid working knowledge of AWS boto3.

The Scope of Your Influence

Act as a senior escalation point in the on-call rotation, leading incident response and root cause analysis (RCA) for critical issues and driving thorough post-incident reviews.

Own the deployment architecture and monitoring strategy for Tally’s cloud, making the calls on design trade-offs and setting the standard other engineers follow.

Lead deployment governance and change management, driving alignment across development, testing, and operations teams on patch and release strategy, ensuring changes roll out consistently and safely across all environments (development, staging, production).

Proactively identify systemic in efficiencies and lead automation initiatives (scripting, configuration management, orchestration) that reduce manual toil across the team, not just your own workload.

Own the performance and availability of Tally's cloud-based applications, setting SLOs and driving the team's response when they're at risk.

Define, track, and improve operational KPIs including service availability, deployment success, incident response, and platform health.
