– FIELD ASSISTANTS (TREE ENUMERATION)

Role

Assist the Environmental Expert in tree enumeration along the identified road stretches, ensuring accurate measurements, tree identification, marking supervision and maintenance of field records.

Key responsibilities

- Verify tree locations within the identified survey limits using the alignment maps and instructions provided by the project team.
- Identify tree species and record botanical/local names; flag uncertain identifications for expert verification.
- Measure and record girth at breast height (GBH), normally at 1.37 m above ground, and tree height using the prescribed method. Follow the project protocol for forked trees and other special cases.
- Supervise tree numbering and marking by the designated workers, ensuring that each number matches the field register.
- Record road chainage, left/right side, GPS coordinates, tree condition and other particulars in the prescribed formats.
- Take explicit photographs linked to tree numbers or survey locations.
- Coordinate with the survey team, marking workers and authorised Forest Department/NH representatives, as instructed.
- Check records daily for missing entries, duplicate numbers and measurement errors; submit completed sheets,



photographs and progress updates.
- Follow roadside safety instructions and report access difficulties or discrepancies promptly.

Qualifications and skills

- Graduate or postgraduate in Botany, Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, Agriculture, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
- Basic knowledge of tree identification and field measurements.
- Ability to use smartphone GPS, take field photographs and enter data in Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness and physical ability to walk and work outdoors along road stretches.
- Hindi communication skills preferred.
- Previous experience in tree enumeration or biodiversity surveys is desirable. Fresh graduates with relevant field skills may also apply.

Reporting The assistants will report to the Environmental Expert/Field Coordinator, SRK Greentech Enviros. They must follow the approved survey limits and measurement protocol; changes require instructions from the supervisor.

Remuneration and facilities

Payment, assignment duration, travel, accommodation and food arrangements will be discussed and confirmed before engagement.
