Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate, responsible, and patient-focused Ophthalmic Assistant / Nurse to join our eye hospital. The candidate will assist ophthalmologists in patient examinations, prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures, support OPD and operation theatre activities as required, and ensure quality patient care while following hospital protocols and infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations and ophthalmic procedures.
- Prepare patients for consultations, diagnostic investigations, and treatments.
- Record patient history, visual complaints, and vital signs as required.
- Assist in performing preliminary eye examinations, such as visual acuity testing, under the supervision of the ophthalmologist.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ophthalmic instruments, and medical equipment.
- Assist in OPD procedures and minor treatments as per training and competency.
- Support operation theatre activities, including patient preparation and instrument handling, as assigned.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of instruments according to hospital protocols.




- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Educate patients regarding prescribed eye care, medications, and follow-up visits, as directed by the treating doctor.
- Follow infection control, patient safety, and biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Coordinate with doctors, optometrists, nurses, and other hospital departments to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing with valid nursing registration, or a recognized Ophthalmic Assistant qualification / Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistance.
- Freshers may apply; relevant hospital or eye care experience will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and patient care.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team and handle patients with care and patience.
- Knowledge of Tamil and English is preferred.
