Develop and optimise doubled haploid (DH) and plant tissue culture protocols across crops, including microspore culture, anther culture, gynogenesis and embryo rescue, to improve protocol efficiency and support crop improvement programmes.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise and fine-tune protocols for doubled haploid (DH) development using methods such as microspore culture, anther culture and gynogenesis
- Improve protocol efficiency across different crops, including chilli, cauliflower, cabbage, mustard and capsicum
- Develop and optimise protocols for embryo rescue techniques
- Plan and conduct experiments, maintain accurate laboratory records,
and analyse and report results to evaluate protocol performance and identify areas for improvement
- Coordinate with breeding and research teams to align laboratory activities with crop-specific requirements and project timelines
- Maintain laboratory equipment, monitor consumable requirements, and follow established laboratory SOPs and safety practices
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Plant Sciences or a related discipline (to be confirmed)
- 69 years of relevant experience in plant tissue culture, doubled haploid development, microspore/anther culture or related plant biotechnology work
