Role Description The Mechanical Design Manager is a full time, on-site role based in the Greater Bengaluru Area, responsible for leading the mechanical design function for modular switchboard enclosure systems. This role oversees concept development, detailed design, and engineering documentation for enclosure products, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and performance requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing a design team, reviewing and approving CAD models and drawings, coordinating with electrical engineering, production, supply chain, and quality teams,



and supporting type testing and product validation activities.

The Mechanical Design

Manager will optimize designs for manufacturability, flat-pack logistics, and assembly efficiency, while driving continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and standards. The role also involves collaborating with sales and application engineering to provide technical support on enclosure selection, customization, and project-specific solutions.

Qualifications

- Strong mechanical design and engineering skills, including proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) and familiarity with sheet metal and enclosure design.
- Experience with product development for electrical switchboards, enclosures, or industrial equipment, including knowledge of IEC 61439 or similar standards and mechanical performance requirements (IP, IK, short-circuit, internal arc).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor design teams, manage workloads and priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in engineering, production, and quality.
- Skills in design for manufacturability and assembly, tolerance analysis, material selection (aluminum, steel, copper), and cost optimization.
- Competence in documentation and configuration management, including creation and control of BOMs, drawings, specifications, and project reports.
- Relevant academic background, such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
