Role Overview

Morepen Laboratories is seeking a results-oriented Business Development professional to drive CDMO business growth across Europe from its Hyderabad office.

The candidate will develop European pharmaceutical and biotechnology accounts, generate new business opportunities, manage customer inquiries and RFPs, coordinate technical-commercial proposals, and secure development and manufacturing contracts across APIs, intermediates, and finished dosage formulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute a business development strategy for European markets, prioritizing Germany, Switzerland, the UK, France, Benelux, Italy, and Spain.
- Identify and acquire pharmaceutical innovators, biotech companies, virtual pharma organizations, specialty pharma, and generic pharmaceutical customers.
- Generate opportunities for NCE development, custom synthesis, API and intermediate manufacturing, FTE-based R&D;, formulation development, technology transfer, and commercial manufacturing.
- Build relationships with European R&D;, CMC, procurement, strategic sourcing, and external manufacturing teams.
- Manage customer inquiries and RFPs, coordinating technical feasibility, costing, timelines, and proposals with internal teams.
- Drive customer follow-ups, proposal negotiations, contract discussions, and opportunity closure.
- Maintain the CDMO prospect tracker, RFP Register, CRM records, and probability-weighted pipeline.
- Coordinate with R&D;, Analytical Development, Formulation Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
- Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking, and target-account mapping to identify new opportunities.




- Represent Morepen at CPHI Europe, BIO-Europe, and relevant partnering events, with international travel as required.
- Achieve agreed business development, new customer acquisition, pipeline, revenue, and profitability targets.

Candidate Requirements

- B.Pharm, M.Pharm, M.Sc. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related qualification; an MBA is preferred.
- 8–12 years of pharmaceutical business development experience, preferably in CDMO, CRAMS, API, custom synthesis, or finished dosage formulations.
- Prior experience managing European pharmaceutical customers is essential.
- Proven track record in lead generation, customer acquisition, proposal management, commercial negotiations, and business conversion.
- Understanding of small-molecule development, GMP manufacturing, technology transfer, CMC requirements, and regulatory documentation.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, particularly in international customer correspondence and technical-commercial presentations.
- Experience using CRM systems, Excel, PowerPoint, and structured business reporting.
- Ability to work across European and Indian time zones and travel internationally when required.

Success Profile The successful candidate will combine strong European customer-facing experience with the ability to coordinate technical and commercial activities from Hyderabad. The primary objective is to convert European customer relationships into profitable, long-term CDMO partnerships for Morepen Laboratories.
