Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and technical operations of a fleet of CNG-powered low-floor JBM buses at a city bus depot in Gurugram. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet availability, preventive and corrective maintenance, timely breakdown resolution, spare parts management, workshop operations, and compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of CNG buses, experience in fleet maintenance and workshop management, and the ability to lead a team of technicians, mechanics, and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities1. Fleet Maintenance and Workshop Management

- Manage day-to-day maintenance operations for CNG-powered low-floor JBM buses.
- Ensure maximum vehicle availability and minimum maintenance-related downtime.
- Plan and monitor preventive, periodic, and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Ensure timely servicing, inspection, and repair as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance history, service records, and repair documentation.

1. Technical Maintenance – CNG Low-Floor Buses

- Possess sound knowledge of CNG engines, fuel systems, regulators, injectors, valves, pressure lines, and leak detection.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, engine, transmission, braking, suspension, steering, and HVAC-related issues.
- Ensure proper inspection and maintenance of CNG fuel systems by qualified personnel.
- Coordinate with JBM Auto or authorised service representatives for technical support, warranty claims, and major repairs.
- Ensure proper functioning of low-floor bus systems, including passenger doors, kneeling systems, and ramps where fitted.

1. Breakdown Management

- Ensure prompt response to vehicle breakdowns and technical complaints.




- Coordinate with the Operations team to minimise service disruptions.
- Analyse recurring breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain breakdown reports, repair timelines, and root-cause analysis records.

1. Team Management

- Supervise workshop supervisors, mechanics, technicians, and electricians.
- Allocate daily maintenance jobs and monitor work completion.
- Prepare shift rosters and ensure adequate technical manpower.
- Conduct technical training and safety briefings.
- Monitor workforce productivity and workshop discipline.

1. Spare Parts and Inventory Management

- Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and maintenance consumables.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase teams for timely procurement.
- Control spare parts consumption and maintenance expenditure.
- Monitor inventory levels, warranty replacements, and component repair records.

1. Safety and Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable vehicle safety requirements and CNG workshop safety procedures.
- Ensure prescribed CNG leak checks and inspections are conducted using appropriate equipment.
- Ensure applicable CNG cylinder inspection, testing, and certification requirements are met.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance, fitness, inspection, and statutory records as applicable.
- Investigate maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions.

1. MIS and Cost Control

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
- Monitor fleet availability, vehicle downtime, breakdown frequency, and repair turnaround time.
- Track preventive maintenance compliance and maintenance cost per kilometre.
- Analyse repeat failures and implement cost-saving measures without compromising safety.
- Present maintenance performance reports to management.

Coordination with Operations and Client

- Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure sufficient buses are available for daily deployment.
- Prioritise maintenance activities based on operational requirements and vehicle safety.
- Address client observations and close maintenance-related issues within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with OEM representatives, vendors, and service providers.

Educational Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience Required
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in bus fleet maintenance, commercial vehicle maintenance, or automobile workshop management.
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in CNG bus maintenance is preferred.
- Experience with JBM buses, low-floor city buses, or public transport fleets will be an added advantage.

Skills Required
- Strong technical knowledge of CNG buses and commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Expertise in preventive maintenance and breakdown management.
- Workshop and manpower management.
- Spare parts inventory and maintenance cost control.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, maintenance MIS, and fleet management systems.
- Solid problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile Candidates with experience in CNG bus maintenance, JBM low-floor buses, city bus depots, state transport undertakings, public transport operators, or large commercial vehicle fleets will be preferred.
