Head - Payments, Data & AI Architecture

Location: Gurgaon (WFO)

Role Purpose

Own the cross-business architecture for payments, enterprise data and AI. Shape the UPI switch decision, establish a common data foundation and enable secure, reusable AI-led customer service and decisioning across Lending, Cards and Airtel Payments Bank.

Key Accountabilities

Payments Architecture

- Define the target payments architecture and lead the UPI switch recommendation.
- Govern payment processing, orchestration, reconciliation and integration patterns.
- Ensure architecture meets required resilience, security, scalability and regulatory controls.

Common Data Foundation

- Define the common data layer, domain data products and canonical models across the businesses.
- Establish standards for customer, account, product and transaction data.
- Drive data quality, lineage, access, privacy and retention by design.

AI & Intelligent Customer Service

- Define the architecture for AI-led customer service, assisted operations and decisioning.
- Establish reusable GenAI and agentic AI platform patterns, including identity, guardrails, monitoring and human oversight.
- Govern MLOps / LLMOps,



model lifecycle and responsible AI controls.

Cross-business Architecture Leadership

- Translate business priorities into sequenced payments, data and AI roadmaps.
- Partner with product, engineering, risk, security, compliance and operations leaders.
- Own key architecture decisions, dependencies and design trade-offs across the businesses.

Expected Outcomes

- Explicit, approved direction for the UPI switch and target payments architecture.
- Adoption of a governed common data layer across priority journeys.
- Reusable AI capabilities that improve service while protecting customer data and controls.
- Reduced data duplication and more consistent customer, product and transaction definitions.

Experience & Profile

- 12+ years in technology with leadership experience across payments, data or AI architecture.
- Strong banking, fintech, payments or regulated-platform experience.
- Hands-on understanding of real-time payments, enterprise data platforms and modern AI architectures.
- Ability to make complex cross-domain trade-offs and influence senior business and technology stakeholders.
