Griffin is a private, invitation-only club that unites India’s top tech founders through curated experiences, strategic learning, and peer-driven growth. Designed for India’s unicorn and soonicorn founders – building at scale, Griffin offers a trusted space where founders don’t just network–they forge deep, meaningful relationships, share unfiltered insights, and collaborate to shape India’s next chapter of innovation. From intimate salons and high-trust retreats to access to capital and exclusive opportunities, Griffin offers a curated path to clarity, collaboration, and personal growth. More than a community, it’s the inner circle powering the next wave of industry-shaping leaders.
Why this role exists:
Griffin is Inc42's most valuable brand and the one it has marketed least, on purpose. There are no ads, no "join now", no discounts and no always-on feed, because scarcity of content is part of the scarcity of the club. What Griffin has instead is a room, a bar for who gets in, a set of moments that members rearrange their year for, and a voice that has never had a single owner.
We are hiring that owner. At Griffin, brand marketing is communication: how the outside learns about the bar without ever being sold a seat; how a member is spoken to on a Tuesday; how a Retreat becomes news without a single member being named; how the object a founder takes home says what the club is. You will own all of it, at both cadences, the daily and the defining.
Your Impact In This Role and what you’ll own:
- Griffin's voice, in practice: every word to a member, a prospective founder, a speaker, a partner, a minister's office or a listed-company founder, across WhatsApp, email, invitations, briefs, the website and the printed thing on the table. Sharp, sparse, warm, never generic.
- Marketing the door: the curation narrative and the "who gets in" beats; a consented, discreet series on what happens in the room; the waitlist and referral-only mechanic made visible; the founders' own channels; griffin.club and the Retreat site.
Demand without a single paid rupee.
- Earned media: the stories that come out of Griffin's rooms, placed in tier-1 media without breaking a confidence. A Retreat, a Salon abroad, a member's milestone: you see the news in it and you know who to call.
- Brand moments: how a Salon arrives, what a Retreat leaves in the hand, the partner activations, the gifting drops and the limited editions. You design them; operations, partnerships and design produce them to your brief.
- The referral ask: designed so that being asked to refer feels like status, with the club's owner.
- The systems: message banks, invitation formats, briefing structures, a follow-up tracker, so quality does not depend on last-minute drafting. AI used intelligently for speed; human judgment on every send.
- The leading indicators: qualified applications, waitlist depth, the share of members who joined by referral, earned-media hits, and how the club is recalled by the founders who are not yet in it.
Primary Responsibilities: 1. Brand Positioning
- Own Griffin's positioning, narrative, tone of voice and communication principles across all touchpoints.
- Maintain a consistent and distinctive brand identity that reflects Griffin's exclusivity, discretion and founder-first philosophy.
- Lead brand storytelling across Griffin's website, brochures, institutional presentations, event collateral and other brand assets.
- Work closely with design and creative teams to ensure that both visual identity and written communication reflect Griffin's positioning.
- Develop thoughtful organic initiatives that build brand recall, desirability and qualified interest among relevant founders.
2. Founder & Member Communications
- Own communication across the member journey — prospect outreach, introductions, onboarding, ongoing engagement, important milestones and renewals.
- Develop personalised communication for founders, members and senior stakeholders through WhatsApp, email, invitations, briefs and other formats.
- Translate Griffin's work, member experiences and key moments into compelling, discreet and founder-first narratives.
- Design communication around referrals, member advocacy and Griffin's curated membership approach.
- Ensure every member interaction feels considered, personal and consistent with the stature of the collective.
3. Brand Marketing, PR & Earned Media
- Identify and develop compelling stories emerging from Griffin's Salons, Retreats, institutional engagements and member milestones.
- Build relationships with relevant editors, journalists and media platforms to generate meaningful earned coverage.
- Drive Griffin's organic brand presence through its website, founder channels, selective storytelling and other relevant platforms.
- Build visibility without compromising member confidentiality,
private conversations or the discretion expected of Griffin.
- Track qualified founder interest, referrals, earned media and brand visibility indicators.
4. Brand Experiences & Event Communication
- Own the brand and communication experience across Griffin Salons, Retreats, private dinners, international delegations and institutional gatherings.
- Lead communication across the event journey — save-the-dates, invitations, speaker communication, agenda narratives, attendee updates and post-event engagement.
- Conceptualise brand moments including gifting, limited-edition keepsakes, welcome experiences and partner-led activations.
- Translate concepts into transparent creative briefs and work with design, operations and partnerships teams to bring them to life.
- Ensure every Griffin experience reinforces the brand's premium, thoughtful and understated character.
5. Government, Institutional & Strategic Communications
- Develop high-quality communication for government leadership, embassies, regulators, institutional investors, global organisations and strategic partners.
- Support Griffin leadership with institutional decks, briefing notes, formal correspondence, introductions and follow-up communication.
- Position Griffin as a credible collective representing India's leading technology founders.
- Maintain the diplomatic judgment, accuracy and discretion required when engaging with senior stakeholders in India and internationally.
6. Brand & Communication Infrastructure
- Build and maintain Griffin's communication repository, including message banks, invitation formats, brand guidelines, founder introduction templates and briefing structures.
- Establish communication calendars, review processes, outreach trackers and follow-up mechanisms.
- Work cross-functionally with design, events, partnerships and Griffin leadership to ensure timely execution.
- Use AI tools intelligently to improve research, drafting and execution speed while retaining human judgment and brand consistency.
Who you are:
- You write with restraint. You know the difference between premium and verbose, and you know what not to say. You have a piece you did not publish and you can explain why.
- You have run communications for a senior audience: in luxury or hospitality, private banking or wealth, a premium members' organisation, or as an editor or senior journalist who became a communications lead. Not corporate press-release volume; considered communication for people who are hard to impress.
- You can make news without naming anyone. You have placed stories, you know editors, and you understand that discretion is what makes the story worth telling.
- You have designed a moment, a launch, an arrival, an object, a room, where the brand did the talking and the budget was real.
- You have taste and a bias for action: strong first drafts, the right questions, things pushed to closure without being chased.
- You are discreet by instinct and diplomatic by training. You can write to a founder, a minister and a member in the same hour and get all three right.
- Five to eight years. Ecosystem fluency, or genuine curiosity about India's founders, capital markets and policy, is a strong advantage.
