Fleet Manager - Distribution A packaged-foods company with a growing modern-trade business, delivering to stores and distributors from four depots

Location: Remote (India)

The company makes snacks, ready-to-cook mixes and frozen lines sold through distributors, modern-trade chains and quick-commerce dark stores. Secondary distribution runs on a mixed fleet of around 120 vehicles, a third of them refrigerated, operated partly in-house and partly through transporters on contract. It has partnered with Flexiple to hire a Fleet Manager who will own cost, uptime and compliance for that fleet.

What the fleet looks like today

Diesel cost per kilometre has risen faster than volumes, reefer temperature breaches show up in up-to-date-trade rejections, and transporter performance is judged mostly on who shouts loudest. The business wants the fleet run on numbers: utilisation, cost per drop, on-time-in-full and cold-chain compliance by route.

The work, in practice

- Plan vehicle allocation and routes with the depot managers against daily order volumes
- Run GPS, telematics and reefer temperature monitoring, and act on the exceptions
- Own fuel management: fuel cards, mileage benchmarks and pilferage checks
- Manage preventive maintenance, tyre life and breakdown response with workshop partners
- Keep RC,



fitness, permits, insurance, PUC and FSSAI vehicle compliance current across the fleet
- Negotiate and review transporter contracts, freight rates and penalties for missed slots

Who this suits

- 7 to 11 years in fleet or transport management, at least 3 running a multi-depot fleet
- Experience with refrigerated or food-grade vehicles is strongly preferred
- Comfort with telematics dashboards, TMS tools and Excel-based cost models
- Working knowledge of Motor Vehicles Act compliance and driver safety programmes

Bonus points

- Experience piloting electric vehicles for last-mile delivery
- Background in FMCG or dairy distribution
- Driver training or road-safety certification
