Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our Finance team in a Chemical Manufacturing Company. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing manufacturing costs, preparing cost sheets, inventory valuation, variance analysis, budgeting, MIS reporting, and supporting management in improving operational efficiency and profitability.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, standard costing, and ERP systems, preferably within the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

Costing & Product Cost Analysis

- Prepare product-wise cost sheets for all manufactured products.
- Calculate standard cost and actual cost of production.
- Monitor raw material, packing material, utilities, labour, and overhead costs.
- Analyze product profitability and contribution margins.
- Prepare batch-wise and product-wise manufacturing cost analysis.
- Review cost structures and recommend cost optimization initiatives.

Manufacturing Cost Control

- Monitor daily production costs.
- Analyze consumption of raw materials, solvents, catalysts, utilities, and packing materials.
- Verify BOM (Bill of Materials) and routing costs.
- Monitor production losses, process losses, and yield variances.
- Analyze wastage and recommend corrective actions.

Inventory Management

- Ensure accurate valuation of:
- Raw Materials
- Work-in-Progress (WIP)
- Finished Goods
- Packing Materials
- Stores & Spares
- Reconcile inventory with production and stores records.
- Participate in monthly and annual stock verification.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and prepare reconciliation reports.





Variance Analysis

- Analyze:
- Material Cost Variance
- Labour Variance
- Production Variance
- Utility Cost Variance
- Yield Variance
- Overhead Variance
- Identify reasons for deviations from standard costs.
- Present corrective action reports to management.

Budgeting & Forecasting

- Assist in preparation of:
- Annual Budget
- Production Budget
- Cost Budget
- Departmental Budget
- Monitor actual costs against budget.
- Prepare monthly cost performance reports.

MIS & Reporting

Prepare periodic reports including

- Product Cost Reports
- Manufacturing Cost Reports
- Cost Variance Reports
- Inventory Reports
- Margin Analysis
- Profitability Analysis
- Plant Performance Reports
- Cost Saving Reports
- Management Information System (MIS)

Financial Support

- Support monthly and annual financial closing.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors and internal auditors.
- Assist in cost audit and statutory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

Cost Audit & Compliance

- Prepare cost records as per applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with Cost Auditors.
- Prepare Cost Audit Reports.
- Maintain proper documentation supporting cost calculations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable cost accounting requirements.

Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities for:
- Cost reduction
- Waste reduction
- Process improvement
- Inventory optimization
- Production efficiency
- Work closely with Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality Control, and Supply Chain teams.

Educational Qualification

Mandatory

- CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) qualified or semi-qualified.

Preferred

- B.Com / M.Com
- MBA (Finance) – Added advantage

Experience

- 5–10 years of relevant experience in Cost Accounting.
- Experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Paint, Specialty Chemicals, Fertilizer, Polymer, or Process Manufacturing Industry preferred.
