A 1st Class Boiler Operator (CFBC) manages, monitors, and maintains high-pressure Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) boilers in thermal power or captive industrial plants to produce safe and steady steam.

Core Responsibilities

- Boiler Operations & Monitoring: Start up, regulate, and shut down CFBC boilers, keeping steam pressure, temperature, and drum water levels within safe operational limits.

- DCS / Control Panel Tracking: Monitor bed temperatures, combustion airflow, fuel feed rates, and emissions via Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or local control panels.

- Water Treatment Control: Oversee Demineralization (DM) or Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant outputs and monitor boiler feed-water chemistry to prevent scale and corrosion.

- Fuel & Ash Handling: Supervise coal/fuel feeding systems, fly ash arresters, and bottom/fly ash removal equipment.

- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine checks, handle minor mechanical or instrumentation fixes, and assist with major overhauls or statutory inspections.

- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Follow Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR)



and plant safety standards, maintaining detailed logs of shift parameters, incidents, and maintenance work.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

- Certification: Valid 1st Class Boiler Operator Certificate issued by the respective State Boiler Directorate (mandatory in India). (Note: Higher capacities may require a Boiler Operation Engineer / BOE certificate for Shift In-Charge roles). [1]

- Education: ITI (Fitter/Mechanical) or a Diploma in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering.

- Experience: Generally 3 to 7+ years of hands-on experience operating high-pressure or CFBC/AFBC boilers in power plants, steel plants, or continuous process industries. ]

- Skills: Solid understanding of boiler thermodynamics, combustion theory, DCS operations, and emergency handling (e.g., boiler trips or power blackouts).
