Business Development Manager - Cross Border Logistics

Location: Kolkata (On-Site)

Territory Coverage: India, Bangladesh, Nepal & Bhutan (BBIN Region)

Salary: Negotiable (Based on Experience & Capability)

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Shipment Management

- Handle end-to-end shipment operations for import and export cargo.

- Coordinate cross-border road transportation between India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.

- Monitor shipments, transit times, delivery performance, and customer commitments.

- Maintain shipment records, MIS reports, operational documentation, and movement tracking.

- Ensure smooth movement of cargo while minimizing delays and operational challenges.

Customs & Regulatory Coordination

- Possess strong knowledge of Indian export and import customs procedures.

- Coordinate with CHA partners, transporters, warehouses, and border operational teams.

- Handle customs documentation and compliance requirements.

- Resolve customs-related operational issues efficiently.

Client Relationship Management

- Manage existing corporate clients and key accounts.

- Act as a single point of contact for shipment updates and issue resolution.

- Build long-term business relationships with customers.

- Handle client escalations professionally and efficiently.

Business Development & Sales

- Identify and develop new business opportunities in domestic and international markets.

- Generate leads and acquire customers for logistics services.

- Prepare quotations, pricing proposals, service presentations, and business negotiations.

- Coordinate with overseas agents, transporters, and logistics partners.

- Achieve revenue and business growth targets.





Financial & Business Reporting

- Prepare operational MIS reports and sales reports.

- Monitor shipment profitability and service performance.

- Assist management in preparing business P&L; reports and revenue analysis.

- Support strategic planning using data-driven insights.

Team Management

- Lead and manage logistics operations teams.

- Train, mentor, and support junior team members.

- Promote teamwork, accountability, and process discipline.

- Coordinate across operations, sales, and customer service functions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

- Minimum 2-10 years of experience in logistics, cross-border transportation, & supply chain operations.

- Robust experience in India-Bangladesh road logistics operations.

- Good knowledge of export-import documentation and customs procedures.

- Experience handling corporate and key accounts.

- Experience managing a logistics operations team.

- Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Language Requirements

- Fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Strong email communication and business correspondence skills.

- Experience in shipment tracking, operational reporting,



and data management.

- Familiarity with logistics software, ERP, CRM, or freight management systems will be preferred.

- Background in Cross-Border Logistics, Freight Forwarding, CHA, Transport, NVOCC, Shipping Line.
