AS400 / IBM i System Administrator

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AS400 / IBM i System Administrator with 711 years of hands-on experience in managing, maintaining, and supporting IBM i (AS400/iSeries) environments. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in system administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and troubleshooting of enterprise-level AS400 infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and maintain IBM i / AS400 systems in production and development environments
- Monitor system performance, job queues, subsystems, storage, and system health
- Manage user profiles, security policies, access controls, and audit compliance
- Perform system upgrades, patching, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
- Troubleshoot hardware, OS, networking, and application-related issues
- Support RPG, CL, DB2, and middleware environments from an infrastructure perspective




- Coordinate with development, operations, and support teams for issue resolution
- Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and incident reports
- Ensure high availability, system reliability, and minimal downtime

Required Skills

- Solid experience with IBM i / AS400 system administration
- Expertise in IBM Power Systems, DB2/400, CL commands, job scheduling, and BRMS
- Knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and system security management
- Experience with performance tuning, system monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with FTP, TCP/IP, journaling, user management, and HA solutions
- Good understanding of enterprise infrastructure and support processes

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in logistics, or manufacturing domains
- Exposure to modernization or migration projects is a plus
- Strong communication and documentation skills
